  1. Perfect location but noisy nights

    The location of the apartment is excellent. It's in the heart of the old Funchal center with a beautiful romantic view on the yellow fortress. The restaurants and bars are right in front. But this also comes with night noise. We had hot weather and we needed to sleep with the windows opened (no airco) but then the street noise makes it impossible to sleep before 2 am. The street is paved with traditional stones which cause a very loud noise that scare you up. The apartment has all the necessary equipment in the kitchen and bathroom. Some of it is a bit worn out, and the livingroom shows black fungus spots on top of a wall. The hot water in the shower comes eventually after waiting for a real long time and the shower draining was a bit constipated. Make sure to reserve a free parking spot if you rent a car because it's difficult to find a free spot in the streets; But during a holiday the most important was the fantastic location which made us easily forget the few minor points.

  7. Nice appartement, good location, bit noisy

    The apartment matched our expectations. Everything is in line with the offer. Good location, next to several restaurants and a beach. Bedrooms on the floor level are a bit noisy, we woke up several times because of cars and pedestrians.

  11. Good location but noise is a real problem.

    The view is outstanding from the small balcony, a reflection of the location just by the port in the old town. Take comments about noise seriously however, especially if any poor sleepers in your group. Apartment very clean and good people watching from the balcony.

    1. Much information beforehand per email, some good, some unnessesary. 2. Wrong adress: not Rua Santa Maria 240 but arand a corner Rampa do forte 1. 3.The apartment in the whole ok but the kitchen a bit poor, the frige more than miserabel

  21. Perfect location, but no airco and too noisy

    Perfect location in the middle of the historic centre. HOWEVER no airconditioning, so appartment did not cool off. Double bed too small, which especially in too warm environment is extremely uncomfortable. Too much noise. Surrounded by 3 streets, the noise from restaurants, musicians, people at night, traffic on the cobbled stones was horrendous. Hygiene was not fantastic: the dishwasher was still full of with dirty dishes of the previous renters. The floor was dirty. After 2 nights without any sleep, we left for other accommodation only 100 meters away with airco and without the noise.

    Great location close to buses, restaurants and cable car terminal in the "shadow" of the old fort. Apartment equipped for 4 except for too small coffee pot. TTM did everything asked of them. It was our third visit and we are sure to return.

    Propre, joliment decoré, moderne, bien equipé. Grand, idéal pour 4 personnes. Petit balcon agreeable avec vue sur une placette piétonne et la mer. Dommage que malgré les fenêtres à double vitrages récentes, ce ne soit pas mieux isolé. Asset bruyant la nuit. Je conseille cet appart neanmoins !

    This is the Best apartment we have ever rented. The location is perfect with a sea view and right in the middle of the City of Funchal. We will definitely consider to rent the apartment again.     Perfect location for restaurants and local transport. Occasional overnight noise, but nothing to really get disturbed by. Apartment fitted out very well and most needs well covered, though some fittings showing signs of early wear. An enjoyable break, which we will be repeating.

    L'appartement est très bien, est très propre, il est très bien équipé . Dans la cuisine il ne manque absolument rien. Il est très très bien situé, on peut visiter presque tout à pieds Le lit est confortable. Je n'en dirai pas autant des oreillers qui sont trop minces. Deux portes fenêtres avec balcon et vue sur la mer sont des atouts très intéressants pour des vacances. Le gros problème de cet appartement est le bruit. Situé sur la rue Santa Marie, la fenêtre de la chambre est située à un metre environ au dessus de la rue. Le bruit est présent jusqu'à très tard dans la nuit et reprend dans les petites heures du matin. Il faut mentionner les autos, les motos qui passent et la résidence des étudiants juste de l'autre côté de la rue Inutile de penser de passer une nuit normale de sommeil. De plus, du côté mer, il y a un restaurant avec terrasse et environ 30 tables, là encore beaucoup de bruit. Je déconseille cet appartement à toute personne qui cherche la tranquillité et pense pourvoir dormir tranquillement.

  57. Having previously stayed at Hotel Porto Santa Maria we decided that we would prefer an apartment ...

    Having previously stayed at Hotel Porto Santa Maria we decided that we would prefer an apartment as we would have more facilities for cooking. This apartment was ideally situated as we know the area very well and being so close to the many good restaurants meant that eating out would be easy. Unfortunately, despite what the description of the apartment said, there was no oven or grill - only a hob and microwave! (And a hand blender!!)This was rather annoying at first but we decided to eat out every evening as the nearby restaurants were superb. The seating in the lounge area was not very comfortable, but the double bed was very comfortable although the pillows were too soft for our liking. The TV could only be used via the set top cable box and no English tv was available, apart from CNN News, which repeated news items every 15 mins or so and was very annoying. WiFi was excellent and I eventually managed to recieve BBC and ITV on my iPad - if I had taken the correct cables I could have watched these via the TVs, but, hey, we were on holiday so TV didn't really matter. The view from the apartment was hindered slightly by a tree but we could see the cruise ships moving in and out of the port. Overall the apartment was fine, very clean and suitable for anyone who wants to enjoy the ambiance of the Old Town. We felt, though, that the owner should maybe stay in the apartment in order to realise that there are a few things that could be improved upon!
