Located between the town of Câmara de Lobos and the Estreito de Câmara de Lobos, this property is inserted in the agricultural environment of Madeira Wine production.
Estreito de Câmara de Lobos is a quiet village located 10 minutes drive from Funchal, known for its terraced land, where the famous vineyards that produce the grapes for our Madeira wine are grown.
Integrated in a residential area that is in harmony with an agricultural area, this house has 80 years of building, which are visible by the lines of traditional architecture, with stone walls and classic decoration that offers all the comfort and quality, thanks to the recent remodeling of this country house.
This property is composed of: three bedrooms, two with double bed and one with two single beds and has a maximum capacity for six people. In the remaining areas of the house you will find the greatest of comforts, from the living room to the kitchen that is in the style of the old Madeiran houses.
Outside, there is a generous space where you can rest and enjoy the sea view or the beautiful scenery of the vineyards in contrast to Cabo Girão, which is about three kilometers from the property.
This house has a private parking lot.
THE NEIGHBOURHOOD AND THE SURROUNDING AREA
The Câmara de Lobos municipality is known for its economic activities which are centered on fishing and agriculture. Besides being a land of fishermen and farmers, the council is one of the main points of Madeira's gastronomic tradition, where the kebab and Madeira wine represent part of the region's identity.
Besides the traditional restaurants and the fishing village center, here you will find the Cabo Girão, one of the largest in Europe, as well as other leisure activities.
A medium-sized supermarket is a 10-minute drive away. In the center of Câmara de Lobos or Estreito de Câmara de Lobos, you will find several restaurants, small stores and small commercial spaces.
Funchal is a 10 minute drive and the airport is 30 minutes away.
TRANSPORT
The best option to reach this house is the transfer. Ask us to book one with our local partners. It is cheaper than the cabs you find at the airport!

Guests have access to all areas of the apartment.
INTERACTION WITH GUESTS
We are always available to help or answer questions. Please contact us via cell phone numbers or email. We will do our best to accommodate all requests.
OTHER REMARKS
- According to Portuguese law, all guests are required to present a valid identification document (e.g. passport, identity card).
- Check-in must be scheduled in advance. If not booked within a maximum of 48 hours, guests will be subject to our staff's availability.
- All bed linens and towels are provided. We can also place a crib, high chair, and baby bathtub if needed. There is a first aid kit, fire extinguishers and fire blanket at all properties.
ATTENTION
Please be advised that a Tourist Fee will be charged to all persons staying overnight in the municipality of Câmara de Lobos. Thus, all customers staying in tourist resorts and/or accommodation establishments, aged 13 or over, will be charged €2.00 per person/night, up to a maximum of 7 nights and a maximum of €14.00 per person/stay. When you arrive, you will receive a link to pay this municipal tax.

Free cancellation up to 14 days before check-in. If the reservation is made less than 14 days before check-in, the cancellation is free up to 48 hours after the reservation, up to a maximum of 5 days before check-in.
After that, guests may cancel up to 5 days prior to check-in and receive a refund of the price per night and the cleaning fee, but not of the service fee.

Deux taies d'oreillers n'avaient pas été lavées et les serviettes de toilette sont très usées.
Comme indiqué dans d'autres commentaires, l'accès est particulièrement difficile par une ruelle en pente très raide et très étroite. Il est absolument nécessaire d'avoir un petit véhicule.

Jest to stary maderski dom z 3 sypialniami, 2 łazienkami i małą kuchnią. Jest to miejsce klimatyczne dla osób, które nie oczekują luksusów. Z jednej strony super lokalizacja, duża przestrzeń do wypoczynku - taras, grill, stół przy winoroślach, cisza w okolicy, czysta łazienka. Jednak obiekt wymaga odświeżenia, zwłaszcza pokoje i kuchnia. Wyposażenie kuchni najlepsze lata ma za sobą i należy rozważyć jego wymianę.

Le logement n'était pas prêt à l'heure du checkin.
Les casseroles étaient contaminées par des œufs d'insectes et la vaisselle n'était vraiment pas nickel.
Les transats étaient imbibés de pipi de chat ..
Il y a des caméras sur la terrasse qui gênent le sentiment d'intimité.
Logement fort chaud et comme les climatiseurs mobiles font plus de bruit que les chiens et coqs des alentours il a fallu réviser notre sommeil.
In fine le passage par une agence est pénible. Compliqué pour le checkout même si au final en faisant valoir ses droits cela s'est bien passé.
En résumé ce logement vaudrait son prix avec un bon airco et s'il était mieux entretenu.

Nous prenons bonne note de vos remarques sur le manque de rangement et le logement sur deux étages. Nous travaillons déjà à améliorer ces aspects.
Concernant la propreté des casseroles et de la vaisselle, nous prenons ce problème très au sérieux et nous allons le résoudre immédiatement. Nous sommes désolés pour le désagrément causé.
Nous comprenons que la communication via une agence et un autre site que Airbnb a été compliquée pour vous. Nous allons revoir nos processus pour rendre la communication plus simple et plus directe à l'avenir.
Nous sommes désolés que les transats aient été imbibés de pipi de chat et que les caméras sur la terrasse aient gêné votre sentiment d'intimité. Nous allons prendre des mesures pour résoudre ces problèmes.
Concernant la chaleur dans le logement et le bruit des climatiseurs mobiles, nous envisageons d'installer un meilleur système de climatisation et de faire en sorte que le logement soit mieux insonorisé.

Uitrusting in de keuken viel tegen. 3 wijnglazen voor 6 personen en waterglazen enkele kleine is teweinig. Er zijn twee kleine ‘woonkamers’ met enkel 1 bank. Als je buiten leeft geen probleem maar bij slecht is het niet comfortabel.

Big and comfortable beds and a great view of bananas plantations from the terrace.
The house has everything you might need, fully equipped kitchen and also a working laundry machine downstairs with WiFi working with no problems whatsoever.
The driveway to the house can be a real challenge, very narrow and very steep. The first time can be scary, but everyday it becomes easier to drive there.
The check-in was a bit chaotic, we were told it’s going to be a self check-in, but after a while of searching for a locker with the keys it turned out the owner of the house had to come down and give us the keys. He was really nice and helpful though :)

1. The access road is very narrow and nerve racking in a rental car.

3. The kitchen had nothing....no salt, no tea or coffee, no sugar, absolutely nothing (we left our supplies behind for the next person).
4. Only after we'd left did we get an email asking if everything was ok, when it was too late. Was this attempt to avoid a negative review? Will I get a negative review because I answered his questions?

Locatie is helaas slecht bereikbaar via zeer smal en vrij steil op-/aflopend straatje; vooral voor wie slecht ter been is .
Indien gebruik van een (huur)auto is enige durf en rijervaring gewenst om bij het huis te kunnen komen.

Point - : le chien des voisins qui jappe constamment. Il n’est pas possible de profiter de la terrasse ni de dormir le matin. Les voisins laissent le chien dehors du matin au soir et l’animal jappe dès qu’il nous voit/entend. Pour l’arrivée, il est mieux d’avoir une ligne téléphonique puisqu’il ne regarde pas les messages rbnb. Nous avons dû aller dans un restaurant pour emprunter un téléphone à un inconnu.

Für 17 Tage Aufenthalt könnte mehr Wäsche (Bett und Handtücher) zu Verfügung gestellt werden. Das Küchengeschirr war sogar für 4 Personen teilweise etwas sehr knapp bemessen - besonders an Gläser hat es gehapert.
Achtung: Sehr schmale Anfahrtsstraße, aber dafür kann der Eigentümer nichts.

O Sr. Mendes e a esposa foram muito simpáticos aquando do check in e sentimo-nos sempre bastante à vontade.
O único senão é mesmo a localização Embora bem situada pela proximidade ao centro de Câmara de Lobos e fácil acesso a todos os pontos da Ilha, o acesso à própria casa não é de todo fácil e cremos que é mesmo este o ponto a ter em atenção porque para alugar carro, o ideal é ser um carro pequeno e com uns bons travões, porque a estrada é má, estreita, irregular, extremamente inclinada e ainda por cima é uma estrada de duplo sentido, na qual cabe um carro na passagem e mal, além do que, em certos pontos mais "largos" ainda há por vezes, carros estacionados. Pese embora os habitantes locais façam o percurso com a maior desenvoltura, há que compreender que, para quem não está acostumado a este tipo de estradas e para mais quando não está a conduzir o seu próprio carro, o caso muda de figura. Para se ter uma ideia, há inclusivé um ponto que tem um poste que alguém embrulhou com esponja para minimizar os danos à passagem. Fora isto, a casa tem dentro de portões, espaço mais do que suficiente para deixar o carro estacionado. Deixar o carro à parte de cima é difícil, porque para além de não haver quase nunca onde o fazer, é um esticão a pé até às casa o que, se tiverem crianças pequenas como era o nosso caso, não é fácil.
Em resumo, tirando este "pormenor", tudo o resto foi 5 estrelas.

It was complicated to leave the property with the keys inside. I sent a message to the owner and didn't reply. Street very narrow so it was difficult to drive through. Very clean and tidy, nice owner

os donos super atenciosos e muito simpáticos!
Quando chegamos tudo parecia fantástico!
com o passar dos dias reparamos que viviam lagartixas nas paredes fora da casa. Até aí sem problema!
os problemas vieram quando elas entraram para dentro da casa, em que se metiam nas camas !
um meteu-se numa almofada !
um horror !
Depois demos conta da existência de ratos que nos comeram o pão !
tirando isso o espaço era ótimo!
acho que há a necessidade de uma limpeza e possível desratização

Ulica dojazdowa jest stroma i wyjątkowo wąska (jednokierunkowa w dół), w szerszych autach lepiej złożyć lusterka. Dom piętrowy ma bardzo strome schody. Brak typowego salonu, dwa "saloniki telewizyjne" są urządzone w holach i mają po jednej niewygodnej kanapie. Naszym zdaniem to nie jest wygodny dom dla sześciu osób, za mało miejsca na powierzchniach wspólnych - kuchnia i "saloniki". Światło na tarasie gaśnie automatycznie po ośmiu minutach.

A casa tem as condições necessárias para uma semana de férias agradável.
Não tivemos nenhuma dificuldade em aceder à casa, no entanto, para os menos experientes, é desaconselhável usar uma viatura grande, ou nos piores casos, uma viatura média. Nós fomos de Twingo e de 108. Mas também é verdade que, num dos dias, vimos um SUV da classe superior fazer a estrada como se nada fosse!
Os quartos e casas de banho têm bom espaço, e têm tudo o que é necessário. Também estavam muito bem limpos.
A cozinha tem um pormenor muito engraçado, que é um forno antigo (só decorativo). Faltava alguma louça e panelas, mas nós fazemos sempre as refeições em casa... Tinha espaço suficiente para nós 6 estar à mesa nas refeições. A cozinha pecou pela limpeza quando chegámos. Tivemos de lavar a louça toda (estava suja), e o interior dos armários pois encontrámos fezes de ratos. Isto provavelmente aconteceu porque, devido à pandemia do covid, a casa deve ter estado fechada muito tempo...
A casa tem um grande terraço, ideal para fazer refeições ao ar livre, ou simplesmente desfrutar do som da queda de água que dá para ver do local!
O Sr. Agostinho e esposa foram extremamente calorosos na receção, e foram tentando ajudar-nos na nossa estadia. A sua ajuda foi preciosa e incansável naquele primeiro dia.

The only thing that comes to my mind is the road leading to the house. It is a sloping narrow street, I would advice renting a smaller-medium sized car. The first time might be "scary", but after that you get used to it. A plus side is that you can only go down the road, one way only. So really, it is not difficult if you are careful.

O que se vê nas fotos quando se efetua a reserva não corresponde bem á realidade, 3 quartos com duas casas de banho partilhadas, com capacidade para 6 pessoas foi impossível tomar banho de água quente, um animal roedor (Lagartixa??) que durante a estada foi-se alimentando da nossa comida, e pior esgotos do rés do chão com entupimentos consecutivos

Einziger Kritikpunkt, aber nicht an den Vermieter, der etwas zu oft bellende Nachbars Hund. Das arme Tier wird aber nur auf seiner Terrasse eingepfercht. Schade.

Die Zufahrt zum Ferienhaus ist grenzwertig: Sie ist sehr schmal (man sollte nur kleine Mietwagen wählen) und vor allem sehr steil! Das ist nicht gut für ungeübte/unsichere Fahrer. Die Küche im Erdgeschoss ist nur bei schönem Wetter nutzbar, da kein Fenster, sondern nur eine komplett zu öffnende Tür vorhanden ist. Dies ist bei Regen/Wind unangenehm, da sich durch die feuchte Luft in der Küche eine gewisse "Muffigkeit" verbreitet. Das ist aber normal, da die Außenwände des ansonsten sehr schönen und gepflegten Hauses aus unverputzten Natursteinen sind. FAZIT: An Regentagen geht man besser ins Restaurant!

Bedrooms were very cosy and we enjoyed our stay.
Location is not the best even if you are an experienced driver! The first approach (up or down) were (words here do not suffice :-)) despite no accidents. It is a super house, however, located in a dramatic street! We had no problems in the end but I do think I got an extra plus in my driving license capabilities (and I am a good driver ;-))!

House has a good equipment, owner is fantastic and helpful, view is AMAZING. :)
Enough space for 6 people (2 bathrooms, 2 TVs, 4 sunbeds, parking space for min 2 cars and BBQ corner.
Camara de Lobos is a nice village and a good starting point for trips through Madeira. Supermarket only 5min drive with a large selection (you get there everything you need incl. fresh bread, meat & fish).

Einziges wirkliches Manko ist die Nachbarschaft: Hund auf der Terasse der z.T. früh endlos kläfft. Überhaupt viel Hundegebell und Hähnekrähen nachts in der Siedlung. Also wir haben dann bei geschlossenem Fenster geschlafen, was bei höheren Temperaturen auch nicht so prall ist.
