The Garajau area is known for its pleasant climate, good access and its proximity to the sea that is part of a wonderful nature reserve. Are you ready to dive?
The apartment is spacious and has two bedrooms; one with a double bed and the other with two single beds. The living room is large and with excellent natural light, thanks to its south orientation, which offers you a great sea view from the balcony.
The property is ten minutes by car from the airport and Funchal. A real advantage for those who want to be close to the city and near the east side of the island.
With a maximum capacity of six people, the apartment is fully equipped with all amenities.
The property has a private parking place.
THE NEIGHBORHOOD OVERVIEW
The Garajau area offers you many restaurants, shops and supermarkets options. Furthermore, a beach can be reached within a five minutes walk, and there is a small trail for your morning walks, right next to the Cristo-Rei monument.
Renting a car at the airport may be a good option to discover the island at your own pace. You can also choose to relax in Garajau and walk through its residential streets, going to the beach or reading a book in your private garden; these are just a few of the privileges in staying in this area.
GETTING AROUND
The private transfer service is the best option to get to the flat. Contact us in advance to schedule a private transfer car with our local partners. It is cheaper than taking a taxi on your own in the airport!

Guests have access to all areas of the flat.

OTHER OBSERVATIONS
- According to Portuguese law, all guests are required to present a valid ID. (E.g. passport, identity card).
- Check-in must be scheduled in advance. In case the check-in is not scheduled within a maximum of 48 hours prior arrival, guests will be subject to the availability of our team.
- All bed linen and towels are provided. We can also provide a crib, a baby high chair and a baby bathtub if needed. First aid kit, fire extinguisher and fire blanket are available in all properties.

Apartament zaniedbany, to co mogło być wyczyszczone na bieżąco przez ekipę sprzątającą było czyste (podłogi, szafki kuchenne, pościel, komody itp.) i tu nie mam uwag, ale sofa, dywan, zasłony, poduszki były oblepione brudem. Sufit łazienkowy cały pokryty grzybem. Meble mocno zużyte. Sypialnie, co nie było ukazane na zdjęciach, bardzo ciemne. Trudno było się obudzić przez stale panujący w nich mrok. Cały apartament czuć było stęchlizną. Wszystko to odbierało radość przebywania w apartamencie.

Z pewnością zwrócimy na to uwagę i upewnimy się, że nasz zespół sprzątający dokładnie zwraca uwagę na wszystkie elementy meblowe, w tym sofy, dywany, zasłony i poduszki. Zajmiemy się również problemem z grzybem na suficie łazienkowym oraz stęchlizną, o której wspomnieliście.

In der laufbaren Nähe befinden sich Restaurants und ein kleiner Kaufsmöglichkeiten. 5- 8Minuten Fahrweg befinden sich zwei größere Supermärkte.
Sauberkeit erhalten sie von mir 4 Sterne, da das Bad Mängel aufweist - Schimmel an der Decke und Schimmel in den Fugen - Bad benötig Schönheitsreparaturen.
Ausstattung der Küche: alles vorhanden was benötigt wird. Anmerkung: Es fehlen kleine Löffel und kleine flache Teller.
Ausstattungen der Wohnung: alles vorhanden was benötigt wird. Anmerkung: Sofa müsste ausgetauscht werden - starke Abnutzung und durchgesehsen.
Komfort: es erfolgte eine Zwischenreinigung, mit Austausch der Handtücher und der Bettwäsche.
Nachbarschaft: in der direkten Nachbarschaft sind viele Hunde, man hört das Hundegebelle teilweise bis in die Nacht.
Preis-Leistung Verhältnis ist super!

Der Privatparkplatz vor dem Haus ist sehr angenehm. Den Berg runter kommt man zu Fuß zur kleinen Hauptstraße mit mehreren Restaurants, eine Mini-Markt, einem Bäcker und ein paar anderen Geschäften. Ich kenne Garajau sehr gut, wohne hier doch meistens unterhalb der Hauptstraße.
Ich empfand meinen Aufenthalt leider als sehr stressig, da in der Anlage sehr viele Hunde sind, die Tag und Nacht bellen.
Erst letzte Nacht hat ein Hund trotz geschlossener Fenster mich zigmal aufgeweckt. Nach hinten raus gibt es einen Rottweiler, der aber nicht so oft bellt, aber links unten daneben einen Terrier und einen Dackel sowie im ersten Stock einen Mischling und gerade die beiden unten bellen teilweise über Stunden mit kurzen Unterbrechungen.
Zum Parkplatz raus, wo die Schlafzimmer sind, bellt auch irgendwas Kleines teilweise die ganze Nacht immer wieder mit Unterbrechungen. Die Leute hier erziehen leider ihre Hunde nicht und konstantes bellen ist ein riesiges Problem auf Madeira.
Sonntagmorgen hat der Nachbar um 8:50 Uhr mit einer elektrischen Säge seine Hecke geschnitten.
Jetzt im November 2024 haben auch Bauarbeiten weiter unten in Garajau auch angefangen und von morgens bis abends hörte ich den lauten Presslufthammer.
Außerdem wohnt schräg unten eine Familie mit zwei Kindern. Ich habe nichts dagegen, wenn Kinder spielen, aber diese beiden schreien, als ob sie bei lebendigem Leib gehäutet werden und das über Stunden. Sie springen dann schreiend auf dem Trampolin herum. Der arme Rottweiler von ihnen fristet sein Dasein im Zwinger und wird nie Gassi geführt. Der arme Hund.
Leider sind die Fenster sehr alt und nur einfach verglast, so dass man auch bei geschlossenem Fenster dem Lärm nicht ausweichen kann. Ich hatte mich so darauf gefreut, gemütlich auf dem Balkon zu sitzen, aufs Meer zu schauen und dabei zu entspannen. Stattdessen bin ich unausgeschlafen und gestresst.
Das Bad ist uralt und könnte mal saniert werden. Den Rest der Wohnung finde ich aber wirklich sehr gemütlich.
Was mich auch enorm gestört hat, war die Dunkelheit in der Wohnung. Die Gardinen im Wohnzimmer mit den bodentiefen Fenstern kann man nicht mal richtig aufziehen. Es sind Verdunklungsgardinen und ich wollte meinen Urlaub nicht im Dunkeln verbringen.

The host's website is a bit chaotic, however very useful.
Finding the right house and enterance is a challenge. We were told by a neighbour that every week there are guests trying to get inside her flat.
Reserved parking space in front of the property is awesome.
All in all, fair value for the money. Just please change the mattress (try to sleep on it with your partner for a night and you'll see where we are coming from).

Tout s’est bien passé, l’arrivée c’est faite facilement avec une place de parking privée juste devant l’entrée de l’immeuble.
L’appartement est situé à 5 minutes en voiture de la plage de Garajau qui est une petit plage de galet très sympathique et à 5 minutes d’un magasin Pingo Doce pour les courses.
Comme l’indiquent d’autres commentaires, il y a bien des chiens aux alentours, mais cela n’empêche en rien de dormir.
Nous reviendrions avec grand plaisir.

Die Wohnung war grundsätzlich sauber, jedoch sind die Möbel sehr abgenutzt und auch Badezimmer und Küche müssten dringend erneuert werden. Die Küchenausstattung ist nur sehr rudimentär.
Auch die Teppiche müsste man dringend ersetzen, haben diese doch alle Flecken.
Die Umgebung ist grundsätzlich ruhig, allerdings hat es in der Nachbarschaft diverse Hunde, die sich öfter lautstark bemerkbar machen.
Die Kommunikation mit dem Vermieter war sehr angenehm und sie antworten sehr schnell.
Unser Aufenthalt war, minus die genannten Punkte, angenehm und wir hatten einen schönen Urlaub.

While we were on our way to check in at 4 the host messaged us at 3:40 to tell us we could not check in at the normal time because the cleaning wasn’t done. We asked when we could check in but they didn’t give us an alternative time. We waited by the phone for nearly two hours until they messaged us back saying we could now check in.

We had no open food as we have just purchased everything the late evening and by early morning the ants were on everything - even in the teabags! Living room and bedroom were good and as described. Balcony was lacking and furniture folded away and aged/sun damaged so and not as nice as on the photos. Fast communication from host but they didn't acknowledge/react to the ants comment left for them. Parking right in front of house.

Die Wohnung ist groß und geräumig. Viele Hunde bellen in der Nachbarschaft.
Die Wohnung war größtenteils sauber, bis auf die Geschirrspülmaschine - diese war unbrauchbar. Sie spülte das Geschirr schmutziger als es hineingegeben wurde.
Ebenso war kein einziger Teelöffel vor Ort.
Die Aussicht ist wie auf den Fotos und der Autostellplatz vor der Tür sehr praktisch.

House was very clean, very good communication with the host.
Only downside was the lateness of check-in, the apartment was not ready at check-in time.
Amazing views from balcony.
There were some previous reviews about barking dogs but personally did not find this an issue. Yeah there were some barking very sporadically but nothing disturbing.
My biggest advice is get a good car, the hills are steep in Madeira!

✅good location, canico has a beautiful beach not a far walk from apartment and definitely worth the visit.
✅not far from Funchal, pretty easy to get taxis from.

Negatives -
❌DONT COME IF DOG/ANIMAL LOVER - this genuinely ruined our time in the apartment as a rott weiler on the floor below which can be viewed from the balcony, is rotting away in a small kennel.. it is hardly fed/ never let out the kennel and for the majority of the holiday was kicking about it’s water bowl for hours on end as it was thirsty and starved. This really impacted our time spent in the apartment.
❌noisy - the neighbourhood is surrounded by dogs which bark throughout the night.
❌the apartment sits at the top of a VERY steep hill.
❌canico is a beautiful place, although the were few eating places in the close proximity of the apartment. Although a local restaurant ‘Neptune’s’ was very cheap which was helpful when travelling on a budget.

Appartement Garajau II situé au 8 impasse de figuera. Bruyant, des chiens des appartements voisins qui aboient toute la journée. Infernal.
Arrivée à 1 h 00. Pas de lumière dans le hall d'entrée ni dans le couloir pour accéder à l'appartement.
Salle de bains vieillotte, sans douche, baignoire émaillée.

Positiv an der Wohnung: sie ist geräumig, hat einen Parkplatz. Leider sind die Möbel schon etwas abgegriffen, wie gesagt Photoshop!

Fast wifi for working / streaming.
The town is very small and there's not much to do, but there are buses to funchal.
Only downside is the dogs in the neighborhood who are barking all day so it's not the most quiet place.

There is everything needed for a long stay. We stayed for 3 weeks. Kitchen is fully equipped, also washing machine has dryer option which is very convenient. Has a parking spot.
Highly recommend!

The environment was also very nice except so many dogs barking all days and nights long!
I love dogs so much, the problem is the owners not saying anything!

The cleaning lady were supposed to come every week but come only once by herself and after 1 1/2 week we called and asked for her and then they send her. No apologies for their mistakes and that we had to run after them for everything...
next week again the cleaning lady didn’t show up and nobody told us why.
This company is clearly just about their profit und doesn’t care about the persons who live in their apartments.
Really said because it could have been so nice there...

We got a wonderful view, the support was great and the cleaning as well and we were close to the main road of the Island so we were close to everything.

In der Wohnung selber waren einige Dinge zu reklamieren: Brauseduschkopf verkalkt, Toilettensitzdeckel nicht richtig befestigt, Lampen defekt. Diese Dinge wurden aber sehr schnell beseitigt bzw. repariert.
Das Haus, indem sich das Mietobjekt befindet, ist sehr hellhörig.
Wir wurden zur Einhaltung der Ruhe abends etc. aufgefordert. Die Nachbarn links und rechts wren auch alle sehr ruhig, nur deren Hunde nicht. Die bellten und jaulten zu jeder beliebigen Zeit und keiner kümmerte sich darum. Es hängt wohl auch damit zusammen, dass man dort ein gänzlich anderes Verhältnis zu Tieren hat als bei uns (wertfreie Äußerung!). Schräg unter uns war ein relativ großer Hund nur in einem kleinen Zwinger eingesperrt. Wir haben diesen Hund in den 5 Wochen Aufenthalt kein einziges mal außerhalb des Zwingers gesehen, geschweige denn, dass sich einer um ihn gekümmert hätte.....
Summa Sumarum war der Aufenthalt dort eine gute Wahl!

Two small downsides I experienced were somewhat low water pressure in the shower and the dishwasher didnt properly clean. I only noticed the latter on the day of departure, so maybe there is some easy way to fix it.
I would recommend this apartment and would stay here again myself.

L'accès est très facile depuis l'aéroport. Résidence très calme et sécurisée.
L'appartement est fraîchement rénové et remarquablement équipé, rien ne manque! Literie très confortable.
Communication très fluide et réactive avec Travel to Madeira, et accueil très professionnel sur place.
Je recommande vivement !
