Does the city ever get boring? The quiet country life has things that are hard to find! Days seem to pass in slow-motion and experiences are lived with more intensity. Here you will find all this and much more...
Casa da Vargem I, is set in a plot of two properties, located in the warm and sunny municipality of Ponta do Sol, in a privileged area with excellent sun exposure and sea views. The property has large green areas surrounding the properties, as well as a beautiful organic vegetable garden tended by D. Fátima, who takes care of the large variety of aromatic herbs available.
To complete the good outdoor spaces, the property has a wonderful shared pool with infinity ocean views and a hot tub where you can take your anti-stress bath in comfort.
Inside, the decoration combines with the modern architectural features that stand out through simplicity and good taste. The house has two bedrooms with double bed; bathroom; and a fully equipped kitchen. The maximum capacity is 4 guests
The house has a parking lot.
Baby amenities can be provided at an extra cost. Please contact us for more information.
THE NEIGHBOURHOOD AND THE SURROUNDING AREA
The house is located in the southwestern part of the island, in the municipality of Ponta do Sol. Nearby you will find a small grocery store where you can do some shopping. The house is 6 minutes away from the center of Ponta do Sol. Here you will find several restaurants, coffee shops and a few stores. In the municipality of Ribeira Brava, which is a 10-minute drive from the property, you will find supermarkets and some local shops.
The airport is 40 minutes away by car and the city of Funchal 20 minutes away.
TRANSPORT
The best option to get to the property is by transfer. Ask us to arrange one with our local partners. It's cheaper than the cabs you'll find at the airport. If you rent a car, any navigation app will easily find the address.
GUESTS ACCESS
Guests have access to all areas of the apartment.
INTERACTION WITH GUESTS
We are always available to help or answer any questions. Please contact us via cell phone numbers or email. We will do our best to accommodate all requests.
OTHER REMARKS
- According to Portuguese law, all guests are required to present a valid identification document (e.g. passport, identity card).
- Check-in must be scheduled in advance. If not booked within a maximum of 48 hours, guests will be subject to our staff's availability.
- All bed linens and towels are provided. We can also place a crib, high chair, and baby bathtub if needed. There is a first aid kit, fire extinguishers and fire blanket at all properties.
ATTENTION
Please be advised that a Tourist Fee will be charged to all persons staying overnight in the municipality of Ponta do Sol. Thus, all customers staying in tourist resorts and/or accommodation establishments, aged 13 or over, will be charged €2.00 per person/night, up to a maximum of 7 nights and a maximum of €14.00 per person/stay. When you arrive, you will receive a link to pay this municipal tax.

We had a great stay at the house in Ponta do Sol. It was very clean, and the view was absolutely stunning—we enjoyed beautiful sunsets every evening. There were many cats around the house, which added a special charm. The pool was lovely, but unfortunately still a bit too cold for us to use. The kitchen was excellently equipped, so we often cooked dinner ourselves and didn’t need to go to a restaurant. The only small downside was that the air inside was sometimes a bit humid, which caused an unpleasant smell in the bathroom. But apart from that, everything was excellent, and we truly enjoyed our time in this beautiful place!

Beautiful house with good facilities for a small family or couple of friends. Kitchen was well equipped. Pool was too cold for this time a year, but the jacuzzi was great. The view was the absolut highlight!

The house is beautifully designed, with stunning architecture and lovely spaces surrounded by lush greenery. Beautiful house. Incredible spot to watch the sunset from the upstairs terrace. Even in early November weather was nice enough to enjoy a dip in the pool. Did not see/interact with guests in other unit on property. Ponta do Sol is a charming town with restaurants, cafes, a market to buy groceries and a rocky beach worth visiting. Host was communicative. Would definitely go back.

lovely place, well designed. good location (€10 taxi to Ponta do Sol). A good base for exploring and hiking! One thing I would say is it did not have a huge amount of space to relax in (only one sun lounger) so more of a base, rather than a destination to stay and relax in for the full week

Casas da vargem has wonderful views of the island and the sea. The apartment was clean and spacious with a well-equipped kitchen. The smoothie maker was great for making smoothies with the fruit provided by the host. The plants in the apartment gave it a relaxing feel but it would have been nice to have more decoration on the walls/soft furnishings as the space was a bit echoey, making it feel less homely.
The pool is great - it's shared with the other property, but this wasn't an issue. However, the outdoor bath was a bit different from the photos as the surrounding trees had grown over it - we had to give it a quick clean before getting in as there was a bit of debris.
The apartment is located in a quiet area which felt very safe. We had to rely on taxis/Bolt when wanting to venture outside of Ponta Do Sol, we couldn't always get one straight away but this didn't cause too much of an issue. The main area is roughly a 30 min walk but note that the roads are very steep.

This was a really spectacular place, exactly as pictured and described. There is a beautiful view from the kitchen, the patio next to the kitchen, as well as the balcony off of the main bedroom. Communication with the owner was easy and he quickly provided solutions to any issue. The location provided easy access to day trips at any point on the island. The beds were very comfortable and the shower is wonderful — both indoor and outdoor. The decor is simple, modern, and perfect for the architecture. Would definitely come back.

Serdecznie polecam apartament. Miejsce było przepiękne, wnętrze wyglądało dokładnie tak jak na zdjęciach. Do tego było bardzo czysto, a w powietrzu unosił się piękny zapach. Basen był czysty i miał piękny widok. Jednakże brak klimatyzacji przy 30 stopnich dawał się we znaki. Równiez uszkodzona kurtyna w dolnej sypialni utrudniala pobyt - nie dalo sie jej do konca zasunąć, co przy włączonym oświetleniu roślin na zewnatrz utrudniało sen. Dodatkowo trzeba było uważać na bezdomne koty, które przez otwarte drzwi od tarasu próbowały wejść do środka mieszkania.

Excellente location au design moderne tout en alliant verdure intérieure et extérieure et décoration épurée.
On s’est senti tres à l’aise. La piscine est partagée mais cela n’a pas été gênant car chaque location à ses espaces privés et la piscine est cloisonnée par des haies de verdure permettant l’intimité. Très réussi.

Another lovely stay on the beautiful Island of Madeira. We really enjoyed our stay, those views are incredible. The property had a great amount of space for the 4 of us and we felt very at home. We did a lot of cooking and the amenities were fantastic.

The owner was friendly and responsive to our requests. This is such a unique and beautiful place with the view. The pool was wonderful. The frequent cats visit made this trip also memorable.

Mooie locatie en de speelse architectuur zorgen voor een ruimtelijk gevoel waar je goed tot rust kan komen. De ligging is ideaal om de rest van het eiland te verkennen! De ruimte kan je goed ventileren waardoor het steeds aangenaam aanvoelt binnen. Het tuin meubilair is niet erg geschikt voor grote mensen, de zithouding is niet erg comfortabel.
Kortom wij hebben een zeer mooie vakantie gehad en daar heeft dit huis aan toe bijgedragen! Bedankt om deze mooie locatie aan te bieden .

Wir hatten beide Häuser gemietet und waren auf den ersten Blick mehr als begeistert, leider merkten wir dass das gesamte Grundstück als katzentoilettedient, man war gezwungen jeden Tag mehrere katzenexkremente zu entfernen. auch konnte man die Türen nicht offen lassen, da die Katzen versuchten ins Haus zu kommen. echt schade, denn ohne dieses Problem wäre es ein wirklich einzigartiges Objekt

Wunderschöne Casa, perfekt an den Hang gebaut und mit fantastischem Design.

We spent three nights at this wonderful villa in Ponta do Sol. It’s even more beautiful than in the pictures! The facilities were excellent and the pool was lovely after a walk in the sun. Although it’s shared with the apartment next door, you have plenty of private outdoor space with the upper terrace and seating outside the kitchen. The only thing I would say is you need a car if you want to stay here - we didn’t hire one & wished we had. The location is quite remote and we found it difficult to get a taxi to pick us up so ended up walking down the hill most days. This is fine if you are active (it’s about 25 mins into Ponta do Sol) but the hills are steep and you have to walk on the road for most of the way so not suitable for everyone. On the whole, we really enjoyed our stay here & the house really is beautiful!

This place is beautiful. We arrived at night and did not know what we would see in the morning. The drive to the house made us feel we were winding our way to someplace special and we were hopeful. When we awoke the first morning, our first words were “wow”. The interior of the house is beautiful and the view is just as stunning. There is plenty of space and the two bedrooms are far apart. The only drawback if you are travelling as 2 couples is the washroom is next to the main bedroom. This wasn’t an issue for us and we used the balcony off the second bedroom for views of the sunset. You definitely need a car because it’s a long walk to any other place and the walk back up a long climb. If we return to Madeira (and we really hope we do), we will stay here again. It has the most unique washroom we have ever seen (in a very good way) and the bowl of fresh fruit was great. We loved this place!!!

Surrounded by banana trees, we were not at all bothered by the neighbors (same property). Inside, everything is white, nothing disturbs the gaze. We shower in the Italian style with the monsteras, we rest on the green sofas in the lounge and finally we share a drink in the kitchen-dining room whose bay window opens onto the landscape. Nothing was missing in it and our host had left us a well-filled fruit basket (not to mention the jam, salt, oil and vinegar). Outside, the swimming pool (cool on this date), an outdoor lounge and in the garden a beautiful round red bathtub for taking a hot outdoor bath, the best! Below, the vegetable garden. We took full advantage of this magical place.
We encountered a small problem during our stay, our host Miguel (architect-owner) was great, very responsive, he did everything to solve it :)

Magnifique maison sur les hauteurs de Ponta do Sol ... Entourés de bananiers, nous n'avons pas été du tout gênés par les voisins (même propriété). A l'intérieur, tout est blanc, rien ne vient perturber le regard. On se douche à l'italienne avec les monsteras, on se repose sur les canapés verts du salon lounge et enfin on partage un verre dans la cuisine-salle à manger dont la baie vitrée ouvre sur le paysage. Il ne manquait de rien celle-ci et notre hôte nous avait laissé une corbeille de fruits bien remplie (sans compter la confiture, le sel, l'huile et le vinaigre). A l'extérieur, la piscine (fraiche à cette date), un salon de jardin et dans le jardin une belle baignoire ronde de couleur rouge pour prendre un bain extérieur chaud, le top ! En contrebas, le jardin potager. Nous avons bien profité de cet endroit magique.
Nous avons rencontré un petit problème pendant notre séjour, notre hôte Miguel (architecte-propriétaire) a été super, très réactif, il a tout fait pour le résoudre :)

Alles ist wie auf den Fotos. Die ist Wohnung sehr schön angelegt, sonnig und hat einen schönen Blick Miguel war sehr hilfsbereit. Er hat auf Anfrage eine Yogamatte zur Verfügung gestellt und die Wassertemperatur erhöht (wir waren im Februar da ). Die beiden Wohnungen sind sehr clever von einander getrennt. Wir haben garnicht mitbekommen, dass auch Besucher in der anderen Wohnung waren. Der ein oder andere Haken mehr um etwas aufzuhängen wäre praktisch. Aber das ist Jammern auf hohem Niveau.

It is an amazing villa, with a wonderful view to the ocean .
The casa designed in modern clean architecture ,which together with the panoramic view of the nature around, gives kind of “Zen atmosphere” .
The place is really amazing, much better then the photos!
Miguel the owner use to work for many years at hotels, and the Villas are his dream come true. You can feel and see his professional touch in every detail at the villa which has 2 bedrooms, leaving room, wonderful shower, amazing swimming pool, hot tab at the garden, very well equipped kitchen and privet garden with plants and herbs that the guest can use for cooking or tee.
There are also many other useful facilities that you can use such as washing and drying machine, every thing is new and works perfect.
The bottom line is -5 stars experience.
Next time we will be in madeira we will be back to Casa da Vargem.🌺

Das wichtigste zuerst: Das Haus entspricht zu 100% den Bildern und ist einfach nur Traumhaft. Dass hier Architekturpreise gewonnen wurden, ist absolut nachvollziehbar. Doch es ist auch wirklich „bewohnbar“ und gemütlich, nicht nur schick.
Wir waren 4 Erwachsene und ein Kleinkind mit 15 Monaten und haben uns sehr Wohlgefühlt. Was bemängelt worden ist von anderen Gästen, die fehlende Klimaanlage und keine Poolliegen, können wir relativieren: das ganze Raumkonzept sorgt für eine perfekte Durchlüftung und die Terassenmöbel sind überaus bequem. Im Zweifelsfall kann man sich mit Handtüchern auf die Wiese legen. Abends sitzt man mit fantastischem Blick auf der Terrasse, einfach herrlich.
Die Ausstattung ist makellos, Hotelniveau bei Bettwäsche, Betten, Handtüchern, sogar Bademäntel gibt es. Alle Elektrogeräte aller erste Sahne, sogar Waschmaschine und Trockner vorhanden, genauso wie wasserspender. Der Host Miguel hat uns persönlich empfangen und stand jederzeit mit Rat und Tat zur Seite, so wünscht man sich das.
Ponta de Sol ist zudem ein grandioser Ausgangspunkt für Madeira, fast immer schönes Wetter und freundliche Menschen. Kein Ausflugsziel ist viel mehr als eine Stunde entfernt, in Funchal ist man in einer halben Stunde und dort ist das Wetter deutlich schlechter gewesen.
Über an island apart Kann man direkt einen Fahrdienst vom Flughafen buchen, der uns selbst nachts um halb4 pünktlich und zuverlässig abgeholt hat. Als Mietwagenagentur wurde uns CarXop empfohlen, das war absolut preiswert (Kombi, ca. 315€ für 6 Tage), Vollkasko, kein Rumgetue wegen Unterboden o.ä., zudem Lieferung und Abholung frei Haus.
Wie man hört, wir waren rundum zufrieden. Wenn Madeira, dann hier. Danke!

We had an amazing time here. Miguel is a great host. Our flight was delayed so we did not arrive until very late but he was still available to show us around.
The property itself is very special. Very spacious and well designed. The pool area is amazing with great views of the ocean below. The location is great if you’re looking for a more chilled out time. Would recommend a car if staying here but taxis are also available. Favourite Airbnb experience to date. Will definitely come back!

We absolutely loved our stay! Miguel was very attentive and communicated very quickly. The views from this home are incredible. The house was very clean. There is also a great cafe just steps away with empanadas and coffee. There is also a great walking trail near by with incredible views.

The house in Ponta do Sol was absolutely stunning. It was incredibly comfortable and stylish (even featured in an architecture book). The location was also perfect for exploring the entire south side of Madeira. The host gave great recommendations as well. The pool was shared with the adjoining unit, but that was not an issue at all. I would definitely stay here again if we return to Madeira. One of the best AirBnB’s we’ve ever stayed in, it has my highest recommendation.

This house is something to come back to! You have have everything you need in a modern design apartment. The view is extra ordinary. The luxury to go out in the garden to pick herbs for cookie for tea… The host is very nice and helpful and the apartment is very clean.

eigentlich hätte man hier Top-Noten geben können - das Haus ist wirklich super. Aber: es wird als „ganzes Ferienhaus“ angeboten. Das ist leider falsch. Es handelt sich um ein Doppelhaus, bei dem z.B. der Pool mit den Bewohnern der anderen Hälfte geteilt werden muss. Wir haben ein ganzes Haus gebucht, weil wir unsere Privatsphäre nicht mit anderen, wildfremden Menschen teilen wollten. Deshalb hier diese schlechte Bewertung. Zumal das Objekt doppelt so teuer ist wie so manches 5-Sterne-Hotel auf Madeira.
Darüber hinaus sieht man schon wenige Monate nach Eröffnung deutliche Abnutzungserscheinungen in Küche und Bad. Auch gibt es keine Liegen und im Haus keine Stühle (nur Hocker). Wir haben dann die Gartenstühle reingeholt und am Esstisch platziert.
Wichtig für zwei Paare: es gibt ein fantastisches Schlafzimmer mit Traumblick. Das andere hingegen ist dunkel und befindet sich hinter mehreren riesigen Bananenpflanzen. Auch gibt es nur ein Bad und eine Toilette.

Dům byl krásný a i "vanička" pod banánovníky. Jediné co bychom vytkli, tak nebyl úplně umožněn výhled z terasy či vaničky na moře a dál po okolí, Všude je to až moc zarostlé banánovníky. Stačilo by trochu zahradu upravit. z banánovníků lezou večer velcí pavouci a tak to není moc super když se koupete ve vaničce či sedíte na terase a leze po Vás něco.
Velkou výhodou byla pračka a hlavně filtrace na vodu. Za celou dobu jsme nekoupili vodu v obchodě, ale točili si filtrovanou.
V popisu na bookingu nebylo uvedeno, že bazén není jen náš, ale i sousedního domu. Mysleli jsme si, že bazén máme pro sebe.
Dále bych za tyto peníze uvítala uprostřed týdne úklid a výměnu ručníků za čisté. Za úklid si účtují nemalé peníze.

L’accueil avec Carla s’est très bien passé. Carla nous a donné pleins de conseils et surtout plusieurs bonnes adresses de restaurant.

The apartment is extremely good and the hosts very nice. Despite sharing the pool, you have absolute privacy. Also, the equipment of the house is very good, we have missed except for sun loungers nothing. The view will not be forgotten so quickly. We enjoyed the time very much!

It was amazing! We had a warm welcome. Carla welcomed us so nicely! She gave us great tips what we could do around the area during our stay. The pool, view, garden and even the hot tub were incredible.

A propriedade está situada num lugar maravilhoso, envolto de bananeiras, onde predomina uma paisagem verdejante. A cozinha encontra-se bem equipada, possibilitando a confeção de refeições completas. A horta oferece deliciosos maracujás e uma enorme variedade de ervas aromáticas.
Lamentavelmente, o proprietário chamou-nos à atenção para baixarmos a música, no início da tarde. Segundo o Regulamento Geral de Ruído, a música é proibida entre as 23h e as 7h, seja qual for o dia da semana. Ficámos muito desagradadas com a situação, porque impossibilitou-nos de desfrutrarmos dos nossos dias de férias ao máximo.
A relação preço/qualidade ficou aquém do expectante. Não existem espreguiçadeiras para apanhar sol e o cifão do duche é muito pequeno, deixando excesso de água no chão da casa de banho. Durante a noite esteve muito calor, atendendo à construção recente, deveria ter ar condicionado!

Agradecemos pelo tempo dispensado em nos avaliar e ficamos contentes em saber que apreciou a nossa localização como também algumas das nossas comodidades. Ficamos com pena e lamentamos, que o fato de pedirmos para baixar a música tivesse posto em causa o aproveitamento da vossa estadia. Relembramos que nesse dia, quando foram contatadas por volta das 16h, o vosso check-out era ao meio dia e como só tínhamos hóspedes a entrar no dia seguinte, por iniciativa própria demos a liberdade de poderem ficar na casa até tarde, deixamos completamente a vontade! Porém os hóspedes da casa do lado reclamaram do barulho da música alta, infelizmente não tivemos outra alternativa, até porque sabíamos que o próprio já tinha falado convosco no primeiro dia sobre o mesmo assunto. Também temos na plataforma no qual reservaram explicito que não permitimos festas nem eventos na propriedade e a música alta, com colunas vindas do exterior deixa essa imagem...
Em relação às espreguiçadeiras, como devem ter reparado, demos imensa importância aos espaços verdes, limitando um pouco no espaço a colocar espreguiçadeiras, para que esteticamente não ficasse um ambiente pesado. Achamos por bem que os clientes estendam a toalha na relva e sintam o conforto da natureza em si, faz parte do nosso conceito!
O sifão da casa de banho é suficiente, até porque foi testado. O que acontece é que por vezes pode entupir e nesse caso, estamos sempre prontos para resolver o problema, quando os clientes nos comunicam.
Quanto ao ar condicionado, também está mencionado na plataforma que não temos ar condicionado e não temos por opção, porque para nós não é uma solução natural nem muito ecológica. Então investimos num bom isolamento térmico pelo exterior, infelizmente em dias de muito calor, a eficácia não é à 100%. Mas atendendo a situação e no qual agradecemos a sua dica, estamos a analisar a hipótese de colocar ventoinhas de teto em todos os quartos de dormir, pensamos em breve ter essa solução em prática...

Wir finden keine Worte für dieses unfassbar geniale airbnb! Ihr könnt euch zu 100% sicher sein, dass euch das erwarten wird was ihr auf den Bildern seht... sogar noch mehr als das ! Die Gastgeber Carla und Miguel sind super freundlich und nach kürzester Zeit für unsere Fragen da gewesen. Außerdem gibt es noch einen Garten in dem viele verschiedene Obst und Gemüse Sorten angebaut werden, an dem man sich natürlich bedienen kann, einfach nur wow !
Wenn ihr während eurem Aufenthalt in Madeira nicht hier gewesen seid, dann habt ihr mit Sicherheit was verpasst. Wir hatten eine unvergessliche Zeit hier. Obrigado

The house is great! The kitchen has everything you need, even a blender you can make banana smoothies with, as we got a huge variety of fruits by arrival. The view is amazing!!! You are in the banana trees and have the village and the ocean !
Communication was fast and easy. We had a warm welcome by Carla, the owners friend. She provided us with lot‘s of restaurant suggestions and they were all just great, places you wouldn’t find out by reading your guide book. She was very helpful. We can recommend the house for everyone!

Such a beautiful, modern home with gorgeous views. Loved the pool even though it is cold in winter, that is to be expected. The sun deck allowed us to warm up first before cooling off in the pool. Hosts were wonderful, attentive and kind. We enjoyed the levada walk nearby. My husband hiked 1600-2000 feet most days into the clouds. Beautiful views! Kitties are fun to see roaming outside our door. Access to their garden. Yes! Amazing all around. Thank you Miguel and Carla.

We ,family with two 4 years old, were very happy in the house. We had lots of rain and appreciate the size of the living room and kitchen kitchen.
Only thing I would miss ,if wether would be good, is a deck chair outside to relax after the pool.

We're glad to know, that you felt happy in the house.
One thing that was very important to us, was the gardens that's why the house is a little bit limited on space and that's also why there is no more, outside furniture and no sunbeds. We though it would be great to leave it all natural, by letting the guest put their toals on the grass and enjoy the nature. It's part of the the house concept, to be able to enjoy the comfort that nature provides.
