A Casa da Vargem II, está inserida num lote de duas propriedades, localizadas no quente e solarengo concelho da Ponta do Sol, numa zona privilegiada de excelente exposição solar e com vista para o mar. A propriedade dispõe de zonas verdes amplas, que circundam as propriedades, bem como de uma bonita horta biológica cuidada pela D. Fátima, que trata da grande variedade de ervas aromáticas disponíveis.
Para completar os bons espaços exteriores, a propriedade tem uma maravilhosa piscina partilhada, com vista infinita para mar e de uma banheira de água quente, onde poderá tomar o seu banho anti-stress com todo o conforto.
No interior, a decoração combina com os traços modernos da arquitectura que ganham destaque através da simplicidade e bom gosto. A casa dispõe de um quarto com cama de casal; casa-de-banho; e uma cozinha totalmente equipada. A capacidade máxima é de 2 hóspedes

O BAIRRO E AS REDONDEZAS
A casa está situada na zona sudoeste da ilha, no concelho da Ponta do Sol. Nas redondezas encontra uma pequena mercearia onde poderá fazer algumas compras. A casa fica a 6 minutos do centro da vila da Ponta do Sol. Aqui encontra vários restaurantes , café e algumas lojas. No concelho da Ribeira Brava, que fica a 10 minutos de carro da propriedade, encontra supermercados e algum comércio local.
O aeroporto está a 40 minutos de carros e a cidade do Funchal a 25 minutos.
TRANSPORTES
A melhor opção para chegar à propriedade será o transfer. Peça-nos para marcar um com os nossos parceiros locais. É mais barato do que os táxis que encontra no aeroporto. Se alugar carro, qualquer aplicação de navegação encontra facilmente a morada.

OUTRAS OBSERVAÇÕES
- Conforme a lei portuguesa, todos os hóspedes são obrigados a apresentar um documento de identificação válido. (ex. passaporte, bilhete de identidade).
- O check-in deve ser agendado antecipadamente. Caso não seja agendado num máximo de 48 horas, os hóspedes estarão sujeitos à disponibilidade da nossa equipa.
- São fornecidas todas as roupas de cama e atoalhados. Podemos também colocar um berço, uma cadeira alta e uma banheira de bebé, se necessário. Existe kit de primeiros socorros, extintores e manta de fogo em todas as propriedades.

Es war eine tolle Woche, die Unterkunft ist genau wie auf den Bildern beschrieben, alles vorhanden, Küche mit allem ausgestattet, super Ausblick, bequeme Betten, sehr ruhig, W-LAN ohne Probleme, Parkplatz vor der Tür! Leider konnten wir aufgrund des Wetters den Pool nicht benutzen!

Stunning architecture that integrates the surrounding nature well. Very well equipped. Stunning views. It was too cold and rainy to use the pool. Host left us a welcome basket of fruits. We loved the visiting cats . Do not miss out on best poncha at Xavier’s cafe that is walking distance.

Sehr schönes Haus mit tollem Garten, sodass man sich sofort wohlfühlt. Die Ausstattung ist super, es fehlt an nichts!

Nous avons passé un magnifique séjour dans la Casa da Vargem. La maison est très agréable, spacieuse, lumineuse, pourvue de beaux équipements, avec une vue fantastique. Tous les produits de première nécessité sont fournis, ce qui est très appréciable. Une belle corbeille de fruits locaux nous a accueillis et notre hôte nous a communiqué des informations utiles sur de délicieux restaurants proches. Nous devons mentionner que nous avons trouvé quelques fourmis dans la salle de bains mais une pulvérisation d’insecticide a permis de s’en débarrasser sans soucis. Nous recommandons cette adresse !

Most importantly, Miguel was great and made traveling to a relatively remote place on a relatively remote island very easy. I had two issues arise and he solved both immediately.
The place is a perfect spot for relaxing and on the right (warm) side of the island. That said, you will need a car to explore all the beaches, hikes, or restaurants, which are all about 45 minutes away.
But couldn't be happier with this spot or Miguel's professionalism.

Lovely place and accomodation. The fresh fruit and coffee was very nice and unexpected welcome. We had some misunderstanding on check in but this was reasonably fast solved. The appartement had all luxury and was very good. We loved it very much!! Very nice design and architecture. Great sunsets and views. Also private parking space is great. Maybe a sunbed on the terrace would be a nice addition in the future. We had lovely week at this accommodation!

Overall the property is nice and well designed. The location was good, Ponta do Sol is wonderful. My only critique, which hopefully will be addressed by management, is the moldy showers and mold under the kitchen cabinets. It did make for an unpleasant smell when we came back from our day’s activities.

Photos are outdated. The property needs a lot more upkeep/maintenance. Most issues were cosmetic (discolouration/marks on walls and floors, overgrown yellowing plants), but it made the entire house feel grimy even if it may have been clean on the surface

After returning from dinner, there were hundreds of little bugs inside the house — on the walls, ceilings, and floor. The host said they would send pest control tomorrow. We were uncomfortable sleeping with the insects so we spent a lot of time dealing with them ourselves. Unfortunately, one of them still ended up crawling on my arm as I was trying to sleep. We booked a new hotel for the rest of our time on Madeira and left the next morning.
Host was responsive and refunded the unused days of the stay. However, we still paid for the 1 night and wasted vacation time.

Really beautiful spacious house! We loved the location and the private pool. If there is somebody else in the neighbor house, you are completely separated, except the pool. Only minor inconvenience are the ants and bugs, but it is to expect. In the end you are visiting a tropical island! Just bring some spray!

A beautiful view of a beautiful spot in Madeira. Furthermore, a very nice apartment. Unfortunately, there were a few defects, such as a refrigerator that makes a lot of noise and a slight sewage smell. Once that is resolved, we will definitely come back.

This house is amazing! It is really a design object, a great bathroom, a wonderful and well-equipped kitchen. A comfortable bed. It’s spacious. The swimming pool is just extraordinary, with views over the sea and an amazing vegetable garden/banana plantage. This house is close to the Levada nova, it’s a 15 min walk. We were visited by adorable cats in the garden every day. We would surely visit again!

Beautiful view of the ocean.
I'm writing this review to save everyone some time and money. Bottom line: The property might look great in photos, but the reality of it is that the place is infested with bugs, and showing its age with wear and tear. This is NOT a luxury property.
Now, my husband and I are avid travelers, and go on many trips to nature based locales. We are not afraid of a couple of bugs coming in through the window or door, we totally understand that comes with the territory of staying on an island. This an INFESTATION, y'all. We had noticed that the bedroom was infested with ants, not just one or two, but a swarm. Unfortunately, we didn't notice until the last day, and when I brought this to our host's attention, he brushed me off and said "it can really happen" but it is "out of our control". Not the response I would expect from someone looking to take care of their property and guests. The ants even followed us to our next hotel on our trip, they must have been in our clothes and bags.
Another issue is sleep quality- the refrigerator is quite noisy/old and makes loud banging noises all night. So if you're looking to get any sleep, forget that idea.
Lastly, just general cleanliness notes- cups in kitchen were dirty so I decided to run them through the dishwasher to clean again. Fruit on the kitchen counter was moldy. And there was no garbage pail in the kitchen for some reason.
I've only written two negative travel reviews in my life, and this is one of them. I would love the host to sleep here for a night, and then let me know if he thinks all of this is acceptable.

We are not at all surprised by your comment, your WhatsApp conversation was very explicit, you didn't even answer my question if you had enjoyed your stay, even if this was a no. You simply started by sending a message asking for money back otherwise you would leave a comment on this platform! It's just not very explicit on the comment, it talks about insect infestation in general, putting it as a title, when the problem was only with ants, which on an island like Madeira, it can really happen, it's not just a problem in my house, it's in general! Ants, when they appear, are usually never one… In your comment you mention that it was a swarm of ants, but that unfortunately you only saw on the last day and you didn't see it before... Conclusion Either you only had this small ant group on the last day, or you didn't have them before, now mentioning that you only saw on the last day something that was so disturbing to you!! I didn't ignore you, I got the full messages! You're the one who didn't answer my question twice, you simply just wanted to get money back, no dialogue, unfortunately for you, we do not sell to comments! You complained about the noise of the fridge and we don't question if it really has a problem, but if you had alerted us to this situation we would be happy to solve it! Do you only complain now in the comment? The fridge is not old, it was put new in the house, it is about 6 years old, no one changes the fridge from year to year, especially the Miele brand! If you haven't found the trash can and don't even send us a message asking, we're not to blame. Overall, we absolutely loved our choice. It is a beautiful property + view. Ponta do Sol is a perfect area if you want to explore the whole island, because it's easy to get to all the other spots but has a nice, local vibe to it for between adventures.
A few downsides:
- The contact on Airbnb asks you to reach out to the property manager, but he was slow to respond. We lost an afternoon of exploring - we were told we could drop off our luggage at noon but no one was there or answering. The contact on Airbnb just kept telling us to get in touch with different people instead of helping on their end and were not helpful considering it was now after 4 pm, past check in, and no one was answering us.
- The jacuzzi is just an empty tub. No jets or bubbles and you have to refill it entirely every time you want to use it which felt wasteful.
- The pool is shared. It says it once in the description, but we missed it. The title & photos implied it was private and we found it misleading.

Beautiful accommodation, clean, modern, and accessible to everywhere on island easily. Private infinity pool looks out on sunset and ocean. Private parking.. Booking was easy, and host/greeter very accessible. Would definitely recommend. Accommodation is hot during day (as faces south), so takes some time to cool for sleeeping.

Amazing modern space, scenic views, and the owner is very responsive. Unfortunately, I had to leave a 3 star rating due to location, sound from the adjoining unit, and most importantly MOSQUITOES.
While the view from the location is amazing, it’s not walkable to any restaurant or market. If you’re looking for a peaceful/secluded location this would be fine if the unit next door (under the same ownership) is vacant. We could hear just about everything they were doing in the kitchen. Sound from their patio had a clear shot into our master bedroom sliding door. While the temperature is moderate in Madeira you still have to leave doors/windows open to allow air flow due to no HVAC.
MOSQUITOES.I was bit a total of 36 times during a 3 day stay which left nasty red marks that lasted over a week. They buzz in your ear during the night despite killing ~10 a night before heading the bed. I lost too much sleep. If the house had fans or provided plug in ones, this could have been avoided.

This house is an absolute gem! The pool and ocean views are simply breathtaking. We spent our days lounging by the pool, soaking in the serene surroundings. The house itself is stylish, comfortable, and well-equipped. Waking up to the ocean views from the bedrooms was a daily delight. We had an amazing stay, the place is great with a nice view of the ocean and the hills filled with houses and banana trees. The swimming pool is awesome after a day of hiking and enjoying late nights in the outside thub. We enjoyed the fresh fruits we were welcomed with!

The pool was amazing, and the nearby village of Ponta do Sol was a nice place with good access by car to other areas of the island. The hosts were very communicative and check in was very smooth. And there were some very cute cats that came to visit each day! One note, there is no air conditioning or fans, which did make some of the warmer days a struggle, and opening the windows did invite in some insects. But overall, we enjoyed our stay.

This place is truly breathtaking!!! We were there for ten minutes and had already started talking about coming back. The view is stunning, the pool is lovely, and the house is clean and bright and so well equipped. The private parking spot was excellent to have as well as you definitely need a car go get to and from in our experience. Miguel was an amazing host - incredibly responsive and helpful, with great advice and recommendations and allowed us super flexible checkout. Would 100% recommend booking this home for your trip to Madeira - truly one of the best air bnb’s I have stayed in and the surroundings cannot be beat. Thanks for an amazing stay - we will definitely be back!!

We had an amazing stay at this place. This is truly a gem!!!!
We rented a car in Madeira and very thankful for the designated parking spot at the Airbnb.
Finding a cab is not that difficult. We did hire a cab in Ponta do Sol called Joel Carvalho Taxi. Very friendly and quick response from them.
Overall our stay was wonderful and we give 5 stars to this place 🙌

Though this house is separated into 2 side by side rentals, it was very private and I never saw the other guests. The property is beautiful and tropical. Unfortunately it was too cold in Nov to use the beautiful pool, but the private soaking tub was great in the evening and faced the beautiful sunsets. I loved the cozy TV nook for relaxing on rainy nights with a show. Miguel was a very welcoming and responsive host, and I appreciated the fresh welcome fruit basket with bananas and guavas from the yard! Also well equipped with espresso machine and pods. There is a reserved parking space down a narrow street that was perfect when backed into (I had an SUV). Definitely need a car to get around the island as I tried on one evening to get a bolt/taxi or food delivery with no luck. Note that there will be bugs as you are in a tropical location! Beautiful property overall, would recommend!

We loved staying at this apartment, and we were excited to meet and interact with some of the nearby locals. Strongly recommend renting a car or scooter (we went with a scooter) to make visiting downtown and other sites easier. Staff was welcoming and helpful, and we would love to return!

The views make this location unforgettable, and my husband & I enjoyed the apartment very much. The bed was comfortable and the house design unique with all the clean lines. A parking spot on flat ground was convenient (strongly recommend renting a vehicle - we used a moto for 2 days and it certainly made getting around much more pleasant. The mountain is very steep!!)

Our stay at Casa Da Vargem was great. The property was very clean and comfortable with great views of Madeira in Ponta Do Sol and a nice hot tub and beautiful infinity pool with ocean view. In an area with limited parking, the private parking spot was very nice to have. The host was helpful with an easy to use website to track your stay.

Look no further! Miguel was such a great host, the check in process was really smooth and when we checked in, there was a little surprise with local fruits for us.
The apartment is a beautifully designed, well thought out space. We could tell straight away that many countless hours of planning and effort have been put into the design, layout and decoration of the apartment. The location is also perfect - not too close to the city center, but close enough to reach all highlights nearby.

Absolutely amazing location and beautiful house. This place is super Zen and it makes you feel you'd want to stay more in than going around to explore :) having a pool is the cherry on top. I highly recommend having a rental car if you want to stay at this property. There's a dedicated parking space which is spacious enough to fit a SUV.

The place is incredible and it was spotless, the host was super acommodating on check-in. The place is secluded enough to be quiet and have a fantastic view but easy enough to access (by car). Das Appartement ist mit wirklich allem nötigen eingerichtet und sehr geräumig und komfortabel. Der (geteilte) Pool und der eigene Hottub sind ein wahres Highlight. Wenn man zu Hause isst oder Zeit verbringt, so kann man zusätzlich einen phantastischen Ausblick genießen. An und Abreise haben perfekt funktioniert. Wir kommen definitiv wieder :)

Beautiful house in a beautiful location. Thoroughly enjoyed the views from the pool and organic garden & produce. The kitchen was well equipped and the bed very comfortable. And as a bonus, car parking spot large enough to fit a full size SUV. Would definitely stay here again.

Stunning home with an incredible ocean view and lovely pool. I would advise that you *definitely* need a car if you’re staying here as it’s up the mountain - but I would advise this regardless to explore the island. (There is a parking space included!)

We had an amazing start of our Madeira honeymoon at Casa da Vargem. A place of architectural beauty with all the conveniences you need (also for our baby). The two apartments are smartly situated for maximum privacy. We used the stunning swimming pool a lot, which was a great way to start and finish the day. Our flight was severely delayed so we arrived in the middle of the night, but Beatriz was there to warmly welcome us. We really enjoyed Ponta do Sol as well! Would love to come back again on another special occasion.

My husband and I had a great time staying at this house in Madiera. We throughly enjoyed being here and wished we had booked a longer stay. The check in process was smooth; the place was spotless clean; and Miguel was a sweetheart helping us (even when we locked ourselves out of the home mistakenly). The pool and hot tub were also lovely.

The owner has put a lot of work into creating a really nice retreat. The facility leaves nothing to be desired. The rooms are clear and bright. Everything is there to be able to take care of yourself. Nevertheless, a rental car is advisable. Especially to reach as many places as possible to explore the island. Unfortunately, the temperatures were too cool for the time of year. So using the swimming pool was only for the very brave. But then the hot tub more than made up for it.

The Airbnb and the property were a dream!! The Airbnb offers a gorgeous setting with fabulous views over Ponta do Sol. The kitchen is super equipped with top appliances, we were provided a full fruit basket which was really nice, the rooms are great designed and the icing on the cake were of course the pool and the hot tup!! Communication with the landlord was flawless and very very friendly. We were sad to leave, but probably we’ll come back one day!!

Das war mit Abstand die schönste Unterkunft in der wir bis jetzt waren. Unsere Erwartungen wurden sogar übertroffen. Die Wohnung war super sauber und es fehlte uns an absolut nichts. Wir wurden mit einem süßen Obstkorb begrüßt und fühlten uns sofort wohl. Der Ausblick war einfach atemberaubend und man hatte absolute Ruhe.
Alles in allem waren Miguel und seine Freundin wirklich klasse Hosts und wir würden auf jeden Fall wieder kommen! Vielen Dank für diesen unvergesslichen Aufenthalt! 12/10 ;-)

Honestly not much. The city view is nice. At least the pool was clean and warm.
First of all, it was not clean. The floors were dirty, filled with hair strands. The dishes were soiled, the hot tube ( it is not a jacuzzi) was filthy, we scrubbed it down for one hour before we used it.
Second : the place is bug infested. Bugs, spiders... Everywhere. We stayed in two more locations that were proposing the same standards and it was spotless there even regarding the insects. So Vargem has no excuse.
Third: we were greeted by the owner's gf. She told us that the owner left us three wine bottles and if we drink them we have to pay between 50 and 70 euro per bottle. Only one issue : it's bad taste to assume that if we drink them we will try to replace them by buying other bottles. She warned us that those are some rare wines that we cannot find anywhere else and that the price set by the owner is lower than it should be. Fair warning : i did a search just for fun and I found all of them significantly cheaper. Also, she made sure to show us where the mop, bucket and cleaning products were. Maybe she expected that we would do the job thay they were supposed to do.
Fourth : total lack of amenitis.there wasn't even salt in the kitchen. They left behind for 5 days one garbage bin bag and two washing dish pills. That's just being cheap.
Fifth : the photos are a bit misleading. For example: in the photos it might seem that the bamboo wall is right next to the pool. It isn't.
Sixth : the smell. The place smells moldy ( which might be a hazard). Also, the couch smells awful.
Seventh : way too overpriced for what it offers.

What a marvelous find of this fantastic house on the island! Miguel made sure we feel like home and fall in love with the place at the first sight. The house looks even better than in the photos as it has a cosy family touch to it. As a bonus it was great to find organic treats upon arrival, and we were welcomed to have herbs from the garden to cook for ourselves. The swimming pool is shared, but we never had a problem with that. The other family used the pool just once during our stay, so they didn’t bother us at all. Hot tub is outdoors and completely out of sight, so it was really nice to enjoy the privacy being outside. We got great recommendations about places to go for sunset, and local restaurants and bars. Washing and drying machine (with some washing powder) were also quite handy.
We will surely recommend this house to others and will be looking to return for such an amazing experience!

Dieses Ferienhaus ist einfach perfekt. Die schlichte Architektur mit Einbezug der Natur und mit viel Privatsphäre ist extrem clever. Dazu kommen noch die hochwertigen Materialien und die exklusive Aussicht, die spektakulär eingesetzt werden. Wir haben hier vier wunderschöne, ruhige und unvergessliche Tage verbracht und kommen bestimmt wieder! Übrigens: Wir hatten keinen Mietwagen und nutzten stattdessen lokale Taxis. Oder wir gingen zu Fuss. Vom Haus aus kann man in wenigen Minuten direkt zur erhöhten Kirche wandern und dort einen sehr schönen Levada-Walk machen ( Moinho). Ein kleiner Lebensmittelladen mit Bar ist gleich unterhalb der Kirche. Da die ganze Gegend recht steil ist, sollte man aber gut zu Fuss sein. Fazit: Wer ein paar Tage Paradies nötig hat, sollte sich unbedingt für dieses wirklich tolle Airbnb entscheiden. Nochmals herzlichen Dank für diese tollen Tage an Carla und Miguel!

The communication upfront was fast & uncomplicated. The check in worked so nicely!
We enjoyed the private space in the garden a lot with the fabulous view during the cooking nights with fresh spices out of the garden. The small hottop was also a Highlight !!

Der Aufenthalt war von Anfang bis Ende einfach nur perfekt! Perfekte Lage, grosses Apartment, der Pool und die hot tub sind ein Traum, man hat einen wunderbaren Blick auf das Meer! Im Garten wachsen Kräuter und Früchte, die man pflücken darf. Kostenlose Benutzung der Waschmaschine und des trockner möglich! Bereitstellung von Bademänteln und Pool Handtüchern, Parkplatz direkt vor dem Apartment. Die Wohnung ist ein Traum, empfehlenswert - immer wieder gerne!
Auch der check in lief reibungslos ab, wir haben noch super insider Tipps bekommen, die Kommunikation war einwandfrei!

This apartment is amazing and the view is fantastic. We had a great experience thanks to the guests who gave us a lot of tips on places to go, who were attentive to our needs and very generous. The neighbourhood is calm and allows great relaxation after a day of hiking or surfing. And finally, the highlight is the hot tub facing the ocean and the sunset.

We had an amazing view to the ocean.
The bed is really comfortable. Enough space for our clothes in the wardrobe. The kitchen is nicely equaled for basic cooking.
We really liked the hot tub since the pool was too cold in March. Recommended.

Beautiful house just as shown in the pictures. We especially loved the view over Ponta do Sol and enjoyed the private hot tub outside. The accomodation had all amenities we needed and provides a clean and modern interior. Would definitely recommend to stay here!

A real lovely gem in Ponta do Sol, just as described in the pictures. We spent four very pleasant and peaceful nights here. The house had all the amenities one could need. Simply but nicely designed and great views. Pool is shared with the other house but this wasn't an issue. Private outdoor hot tub a nice bonus too. The host were very friendly and helpful, check-in process was very smooth and we were provided with useful tips and information about the local surroundings. Probably best to rent a car if will be staying up this side of Madeira but local taxis were always on hand too if needed. Would definitely stay here again.

Our stay was fantastic, although we had a lot of rainy days. The house is clean and has a very minimalistic beautiful style and architecture. The spot offers an amazing view over Ponta do sol. Miguel and Carla welcomed us very kindly, always helpful and with some tasty organic fruits from their garden. We had a great time there.

We really enjoyed our stay. There are fruit trees and herbs by the house that you can pick which was lovely. The view was amazing and the house was nice and bright. Soaking in the outdoor hot tube in the evening was great. Just be aware that you are sharing a pool and it's right in front of the house, so be ready to make friends!

Hello, I'm so glad to know that you have enjoyed your stay,unfortunately and as I already have explained to you on a private message, this kind of situation normally doesn't happen, clients normally don't meet each other at the property, but these clients where university students who are currently living in the island, so they choosed to stay in all the time and... It's the first time that somebody complain's, I will do anything that I can to prevent this kind of situation, with our future guests, our satisfaction is to have our guest satisfied.

Absolutely stunning apartment with a fantastic sea view over the infinity pool. Check in was super easy and Carla gave us some excellent local recommendations. There is everything you will need at the apartment including a laundry room. It's in a great location with a few bars andz restaurants nearby aswell as a great levada walk right on the doorstep. I definitely recommend this as a place to stay ✨

Our stay at casa da vargem exceeded our expectations. We immediately felt home. The hosts are helpful and thoughtful: they prepared fresh fruits for us, we could take anything we’d like from the amazing garden & they gave us some nice tips to optimally enjoy our stay. We could go for a swim with a view on the mountains & the sea and enjoy the hot tub outside after a day of hiking. Muito obrigado!

Sa localisation permet de découvrir facilement toute l'île en voiture. Au réveil, vous pourrez profiter d'une douche à l'extérieur de la maison en ayant une vue magnifique sur la côte. Vous pourrez ensuite récupérer des fruits de la passion dans le jardin et prendre le petit déjeuner au bord de la piscine à débordement.
La maison est spacieuse, propre, sublime et ne pourra que vous ravir. Les hôtes nous ont accueillis avec beaucoup de gentillesse et d'attention.
Parmi les nombreux Airbnb que nous avons pu faire, cette maison reste à ce jour notre plus beau souvenir.

Perfect stay in the most beautiful house in Madeira! Casa da Vargem is located in sunny and quiet Ponta do Sol, close to Funchal, Paul do Mar and Jardim do Mar (Hawaii of Europe - a Surf Mecca) and many amazing hiking trails. With a spectacular view over the surrounding valley, the house is well equipped, very clean, super comfortable and beautifully decorated. The little garden and the swimming pool are a jewel. Miguel received us very well! We will definitely be back!
