Kürzlich renoviert, diese Wohnung mit Blick auf Funchal. Es ist ganz in der Nähe des Stadtzentrums, weg von der Stadt Wahnsinn.
Wie wäre es, in einem historischen Viertel von Funchal zu wohnen?
Die Umgebung dieser Wohnung erzählt ein wenig von der Geschichte der Stadt, dank des Klosters Santa Clara, des Cruzes-Museums (ehemaliger Bauernhof der Familie der ersten Spenderkapitäne der Insel) und des Forts São João Baptista.
Dieses gemütliche Haus wurde kürzlich renoviert, um Ihnen einen angenehmen Urlaub zu ermöglichen. Die Wohnung verfügt über zwei Schlafzimmer, eines mit einem Doppelbett und das andere mit zwei Einzelbetten, sowie über ein angenehmes Bad mit Dusche. Zusätzlich zu diesen Annehmlichkeiten können Sie jeden Tag mit einem herrlichen Blick auf die Bucht von Funchal und die Desertas-Inseln aufwachen.
Mit ausgezeichneter natürlicher Beleuchtung und einer sorgfältig eingerichteten Wohnung, in hellen Tönen, die zu den praktischen und modernen Möbeln passen, die für diese Wohnung gewählt wurden. Mit einem voll ausgestatteten Wohnzimmer, in Symbiose mit der offenen Küche, vervollständigen sie den Innenraum der Immobilie.
Um die Frühlingsmorgen oder die Sommernachmittage und -abende zu genießen, verfügt die Wohnung über einen großzügigen Balkon, auf dem Sie während Ihres Aufenthalts ein Getränk genießen oder sich mit Ihren Mahlzeiten verwöhnen lassen können.
DIE UMGEBUNG UND DIE NACHBARSCHAFT
Diese Wohnung befindet sich in einer ruhigen Wohngegend in der Nähe des Stadtzentrums von Funchal. Die Lage ermöglicht es Ihnen, jeden Ort in der Stadt oder auf der Insel leicht zu erreichen, mit direktem Zugang zur Autobahn, die den Osten, Westen und Norden der Insel verbindet.
In der Nähe finden Sie einige Cafés, Snackbars und kleine Lebensmittelgeschäfte. Der nächstgelegene Supermarkt ist 5 Autominuten entfernt.
TRANSPORT
Die beste Möglichkeit, das Haus zu erreichen, ist der Transfer. Bitten Sie uns, einen bei unseren lokalen Partnern zu buchen. Es ist billiger als die Taxis, die Sie am Flughafen finden!

Les remontées d' odeurs tous les jours aussi bien le matin que le soir, provenant de la salle de bain, vraiment désagréable obligé d'ouvrir les fenêtres du salon. Des saletés sur le protège matelas ainsi que tache de sang sur la housse de couette, sur le lit de 140, photo à l'appui. Nous n'avons pas profité de la terrasse car maison d' à côté en ruine et il y avait un essaim d'abeilles. De plus entrée des communs vieux, odeurs de renfermé et d' humidité, escalier sale, photo à l'appui. L'appartement se trouve sur une rue très pentue, difficile pour les personnes à mobilité réduite. Rue très passagère.

Lack of maintenance of property as a whole.
The open drain and awful smell in kitchen and living area on arrival - there is clearly a drain maintenance problem which needs addressing not currently suitable for letting.
The bad smell in bathroom - damp problem which needs addressing.
The noise and workmen from ongoing building work opposite which impacted on our privacy and peace inside and on terrace - we were not informed or made aware of this
The uneven floor in guest bedroom needs attention it is in very poor condition
Bad steep access is not mentioned.
Overflowing bin outside property on our arrival - had to ask gor it to be emptied.

We’re sorry to hear about the issues you experienced. The smell and drain situation in the kitchen and bathroom is something we’re already looking into with the maintenance team, and the floor in the guest bedroom will also be addressed. Thanks for pointing these out.
As for the building works across the street, we totally understand how frustrating that must’ve been. Unfortunately, we weren’t informed in advance, otherwise we would’ve given you a heads-up.
We did apply a discount at the time of booking, but we really hope we get the chance to welcome you back in better conditions for a smoother and more peaceful stay.

- Vista bonita e varanda com exposição solar

Nichts
Eingeklemmt zwischen 3 aktiven Baustellen und Wand an Wand mit einem bis in den Keller zusammengesackten Wohnhaus liegt die Wohnung in einer eher heruntergekommenen Straße der charmanten Hügelstadt. Hat man erst mal die 50 cm (!) breite Haustür geschafft, kommt man über ein muffiges, verkommenes Treppenhaus mit großem Restmülleimer zur Wohnung. Diese ist hell, groß und sauber. Für vier Personen aber völlig ungeeignet. Das Doppelbett viel zu klein, die Einzelbetten nur Pritschen mit dünnsten Matratzen. Alles auf das wirklich aller billigste ausgestattet. IKEA Fundgrube wäre schon Luxus. Abgeschabt. Die Fotos täuschen komplett, reines Marketing. Küchenaustattung (Marke Eigenbau, schimmelige Fugen) völlig unzureichend, Typ Campingplatz, ein Witz, reicht nicht mal für ein normales Frühstück. Spülmaschine untauglich. Das winzige Bad ( mit guter Dusche, aber nur 50 Liter Boiler) stinkt dauerhaft nach Bahnhofstoilette, was auch den Wohnraum erfasst. Die wenigen Handtücher brettig und verdreckt. Trotz Satelliten-/Kabelfernsehen keine deutschen Sender. Keine tauglichen Anweisungen., WLAN aber zuverlässig. Hausverwaltung hat sich geweigert, Handtücher nachzuliefern und wenigstens zwei Küchenmesser zu beschaffen und dann aufgelegt. Aufgelegt, ja wirklich ! Weiterer Kontakt unmöglich.
Eingeklemmt zwischen 3 aktiven Baustellen und Wand an Wand mit einem bis in den Keller zusammengesackten Wohnhaus liegt die Wohnung in einer eher heruntergekommenen Straße der charmanten Hügelstadt. Hat man erst mal die 50 cm (!) breite Haustür geschafft, kommt man über ein muffiges, verkommenes Treppenhaus mit großem Restmülleimer zur Wohnung. Diese ist hell, groß und sauber. Für vier Personen aber völlig ungeeignet. Das Doppelbett viel zu klein, die Einzelbetten nur Pritschen mit dünnsten Matratzen. Alles auf das wirklich aller billigste ausgestattet. IKEA Fundgrube wäre schon Luxus. Abgeschabt. Die Fotos täuschen komplett, reines Marketing. Küchenaustattung (Marke Eigenbau, schimmelige Fugen) völlig unzureichend, Typ Campingplatz, ein Witz, reicht nicht mal für ein normales Frühstück. Spülmaschine untauglich. Although the apartment is rated high, my personal experience wasn’t good, and I hope the owner will learn and improve for future guests - I do think the apartment has a lot of potential.
I stayed there 2 nights, and it seemed like they didn’t put too much effort for making me feel at home for this short stay.
The building entrance and staircase are old and smell of mold. The smells also enters the apartment. The air in the apartment was soggy and unpleasant. Opening the windows for a few hours and buying an air purifier did not help.
In addition, there was a full, stinky, street trash right by the apartment’s door (which is on the 2nd floor) as if someone forgot to empty it.
Moreover, the furniture (which is Ikea’s cheapest) is old, contains stains and worn out. This also includes some parts of the parquet floor.
Lastly, there were two giant wooden doors on the balcony’s floor. As if someone prepared to throw them away.
They really need to improve the “feel” inside the house

We recently had the pleasure of staying at "An Island" in Funchal, Madeira, and it was an absolutely delightful experience. The apartment was perfectly located, just a short walk from the charming city center and the beautiful harbor.

The neighborhood is nice, clean and quiet. It is a very good place for people, who want to get to know how ordinary Portuguese lives. There is only ten minutes walk to get to the supermarket or bus stop. My visit was exellent and I hope to returnt there in some time.

No gustó · A las 16h (hora de entrada al apartamento no estaban las llaves) Tuve que llamar yo... Me las trajeron tarde... Días después se estropeó la cerradura del portal, la repararon y no nos avisaron en dónde nos dejaban la llave nueva. Llamé 2 veces porque no teníamos llave y no podíamos entrar y a día de hoy sigo esperando a que me devuelvan la llamada. Si no baja una vecina del edificio a abrirnos dormiríamos en la calle... Faltaba el tendal y pinzas... Cosas básicas como un estropajo y jabón para para limpiar las copas... ( Tuve que llamar para que los trajeran) Los acabados del piso no son como las fotos. Las paredes están forradas de madera de aglomerado pintadas de blanco como si fuera ladrillo y cemento (pero en realidad son tableros) Esto hace que la temperatura en verano sea altísima en un apartamento sin aire acondicionado, no bajamos de los 30 grados ni de día ni de noche. Las luces de la zona de la TV no funcionaban. En el salón no había contras ni persianas... ( Más calor todavía por esto)... etc .. El apartamento está en un edificio muy viejo, en una calle con mucha pendiente, en un segundo piso sin ascensor... Esto tampoco ayuda... Pregunte si podría entrar al apartamento antes de las 16h, o simplemente dejar las maletas dentro, me dijeron que no era posible porque estarían limpiando el apartamento, (Algo que resultó ser falso porque yo a las 14:30h ya estaba en la puerta esperando por la entrega de mi coche de alquiler)... Pregunté si podría dejar las maletas en la oficina de an Island... La respuesta fue: "Sobre el equipaje, haremos todo lo posible para ayudarlo. No se preocupe :)" Sin embargo, al final la respuesta fue:"nuestro socio (donde los huéspedes pueden guardar sus maletas) es cerrado mañana, por lo que lamentablemente no podemos hacer nada para ayudarlo. Las paredes del cuarto de baño tenían manchas de moho por la humedad debido a la mínima ventilación ( sólo tenía un pequeño extractor de aire...) La limpieza regular...

As for the lock, our colleagues had warn you about it. If the guests don't follow the instructions, you can't be expecting that everything goes smoothly.
This property is advertised as it is, so, what you can see in the pictures, is what is in the property and for the utilities, this is a self catering property, we took them just to please you.
Again, the property is advertised without AC, so, we can't accept this kind of complainings about things that isn't advertised.
Early check-in is with request and upon availability, if you were there at 2:30 p.m., it meant that our maintenance team didn't do what they were suppose to do, because we don't deny our guests an early check-in if has nothing to be made. Said this, all of the problems that you've mention on your review (and not to us during all your stay), this review is said with bad intentions.

Very dirty and with fungus. The furnuture, towels, bed sheets and covers have stains. Fungus on bathroom walls. Using ventilation is not helping much, if you close the windows for few hours bathroom/living room area starts stinking of fungus.

Logement conforme à l’annonce. Belle terrasse avec vue sur la mer. Quartier agréable avec quelques commerces à proximité. Très proche du centre ville. Son accès à pied se fait facilement. Début mars un stationnement gratuit se trouve facilement.

Our stay was wonderful in every aspect. One thing to note is that Calçada do Pico is very steep, which is problematic for elderly people, but still manageable.

Die Lage der Wohnung war, wie beschrieben, Zentrumsnah.
Wenn man Funchal, kennt, sollte man wissen, dass die Stadt in einem offenen Talkessel am Meer liegt. Das bedeutet, dass die Straßen ein starkes Gefälle bzw. starke Steigungen haben.
Für Reisende mit Gehbeschwerden ist die Wohnung nicht zu empfehlen.
Das Preis - Leistungsverhältnis war absolut stimmig.

The apartment had amazing views and the communication and hospitality was exceptional. I also loved that they provided cleaning services weekly throughout our stay.
The furniture had stains and the shower glass didn't come out far enough and the water leaked onto the floor.

Flat was clean but not wiped before our stay and didn’t have enough toilet paper for our 7 days stay.
Furnishing was quite nice but some dirty spots on the furniture.
Location is on a really steep street (there are not as many parking spots as they claim).
10 min walk down the hill (80 meters height) to reach the city center.
No direct communication with the hosts as you receive a Passcode for a key locker.
The terrace has a nice view over the ocean and city.

Apartamento bem localizado, limpo e ordenado. Excelente vista para a cidade do Funchal quer de um lado do apartamento como do outro. Completo ao nível de utensílios de cozinha e eletrodomésticos. Terraço espaçoso e agradável.

Pleasant 2 day stay stay. On positive side Apartment spacious, and a convenient location from which to explore the island. Hosts communication was good throughout and we allowed us an early check in as travelling with child. Only negatives apartment is located on steep hill on 3rd floor and furniture is quite used and in case of double bed not the most comfortable! Despite the minor drawbacks. Overall enjoyable experience for a short stay over.

Nice place! Just a heads-up for elderly people (my dad is 70+): the appartment is really a bit steep up the hill and cars rush down there quite hectically, so this might be an issue if you are elderly / dont like walking uphill.

I took a winter let of about 6 weeks, and as a returning customer was given a competitive rental rate which was great value.
The apartment is spacious with excellent facilities: good kitchen hob, oven etc. For a long stay, often cooking in, this was essential.
The bathroom is good with an effective shower.
Large screen TV, lots of channels, and good WiFi.
There's a balcony that's ideal for when catching afternoon sunshine. There is some building work opposite, but it's sporadic and they never started before 0900.
The apartment is a few minutes from a corner shop and a few cafes. It's about 10 minutes walk to centre of town.
The compromise here is that it sits on a very steep hill. And then there's 2 flights of stairs. For me, it improved my fitness.
I only had a couple of minor issues during my stay. They were dealt with quickly and effectively.
The cleaners were excellent, and the flat was very clean.
The letting company (AIA) were very obliging in providing baby equipment and allowing us more guests when my family had their departure flights cancelled.
All in all, we had a great time here, and would recommend

In dem Apartment in der Altstadt von Funchal haben wir uns sehr wohlgefühlt. Obwohl die unmittelbare Umgebung etwas heruntergekommen wirkt, da gleich nebenan die Dächer der Häuser eingestürzt sind, ist das Haus in dem sich die Wohnung befindet in Ordnung und das Apartment ist saniert und neu möbliert. Das einchecken erfolgte kontaktlos und verlief reibungslos. Die Wohnung ist gut und zweckmäßig ausgestattet, zum Beispiel mit Kaffemaschine, Waschmaschine und Geschirrspüler. Der Blick Richtung Monte und dem Meer ist fantastisch. Vom Hauseingang aus tritt man direkt auf die stark befahrene Straße und man muss aufpassen, dass man nicht angefahren wird. Die Innenstadt erreicht man zu Fuss in 5 Minuten, je nach körperlicher Fitness benötigt man für den Rückweg durch den steilen Anstieg der Strasse jedoch deutlich länger. Wir haben für den Rückweg den Bus 15 benutzt, mit dem man bis zur Rua Alto Pico Achada fahren kann. Von dort sind es etwa 150 Meter bis zur Wohnung, die man bergab läuft. Die Mitarbeiter von Island Apart haben Rückfragen schnell beantwortet und bei Probleme Unterstützung angeboten. Zu Beginn unseres Aufenthaltes von 8 Wochen haben wir darauf hingewiesen, dass die Sitzflächen der Loungsessel durchgebrochen waren. Leider wurden während unseres Aufenthaltes die Sitzmöbel nicht ausgetauscht.
Das Apartment können wir trotz der angesprochenen Einschränkungen empfehlen. Wir können uns Island Apart für unseren nächsten Madeira Aufenthalt durchaus wieder als Vermieter vorstellen, allerdings werden wir altersbedingt eine andere Wohnlage bevorzugen.

Das Apartment befindet sich in der Altstadt von Funchel und die Innenstadt ist zu Fuss in etwa 5 Minuten erreichbar. Zurück geht man je nach körperlicher Fitness mindestens doppelt solange. Das Apartment macht einen guten Gesamteindruck, jedoch ist die unmittelbare Umgebung etwas heruntergekommen. Wie andere Besucher fanden wir das Hundegebell in der Nachbarschaft nervig. Das Einchecken erfolgte kontaktlos und war unproblematisch. Island Apartart als Vermieter hat auf Anfragen schnell reagiert und war bei Mängeln bemüht, diese zu beseitigen. Unsere Kritik am Zustand der völlig verschlissenen Balkonmöbel wurde zwar entgegen genommen, aber die Sitzmöbel nicht ausgetauscht. Die Loungsessel waren mittig durchgesessen und zum Sitzen unbrauchbar.
Insgesamt haben wir uns jedoch wohlgefühlt und können das Apartment mit den genannten Abstrichen empfehlen.

We stayed a month there. The apartment is quite close to the center, you can simply go to the coast within 10-15 mins. Except it is on the slope so it will be a little bit tiring to climb up every single day.
The apartment is nice, clean and you can find all the essentials there. Yet, the dogs nearby likes to host their "concert" every single night. :P
There is a balcony that you can also enjoy for some sun & fresh air at night! So far the communication is very smooth and flexible for arrangements!

Very nice and clean apartment. Well priced and in a great location. The only issue I would say is that the apartment is situated on a very steep hill (but hey, most of the places in Madeira are on a hill). Other than that, it really is top notch.

We really enjoyed our stay. The apartment is very nice, clean and cozy, close to the center. The parking lot is not so far from the apartment. The terrace is very nice and spacious. We only had a problem with a door from a room which could not be closed properly, so I contacted the owner and few days later some people showed up to repair it. Thank you so much!

The apartment has an exceptional location. it is close to the center, but on a very quiet street. Besides the big terrace that can be seen on the photos, the rooftop is also accessible with absolutely amazing view. Great value for money.

Being of good size the apt. caters well for 4. You don't feel cramped and each bedroom accesses a roomy and sunny balcony.
The kitchen includes all facilities for cooking proper meals at home .
Having a washing machine was a big help for a long stay as well.
Although blessed with great weather there was one chilly day, so having portable heating was a big plus.
The living room has a large picture window with a great view of Funchal, right down to the sea.
This is a great renovation, and the open plan design makes it light and airy, as well as spacious. Bedrooms are good size with adequate storage space.
We got used to having to bin, not flush, toilet paper. It was a chore when we had 4 people staying.
We didn't hire a car. Parking outside is very restricted, but you could find somewhere to park with 5-10 minutes walk. However you can be in town in 5 minutes on foot. And Ubers are cheap and plentiful.
There's cafes, museums and corner shops within a few hundred metres. It is on a steep street. However we're all over 60, and it wasn't a problem. It probably improved my fitness!
Any initial issues were sorted out quickly and the travel agents always responded quickly, courteously and were helpful.
I would stay here again.

Logement très bien situé, une bonne petite grimpette quand on rentre du bord de mer, le logement est très propre, très accueillant et spacieux, nous étions 4 personnes et nous avons passé 10 jours sans se sentir à l’étroit, le personnel est très sympathique et à l’écoute de nos besoins, ils ont géré la réservation pour le transfert aéroport logement et logement aéroport, rien à redire c’était vraiment très bien, je recommande vivement cette location et si je reviens un jour j’essaierai de réserver le même.
