House with fantastic outdoor space, perfect for families who want to rest in the countryside with all tranquillity.

Family, friends and good moments of relaxation are synonymous of good vacations! This villa can offer you all of this and more.
Located on the south coast of Madeira, in the Arco da Calheta, the property offers you a perfect setting for those who like to contemplate the grandeur of the ocean, accompanied by a good book, music or a witty glass of Madeira wine.
With a pleasant garden, you can enjoy your sunbathing while the family prepares the barbecue for a delicious outdoor meal.
Inside you will find a cozy living room, ideal for more intimate moments. With three bedrooms, two with double bed and one with two single beds, the house also have two full bathrooms and a service one. The property has a maximum capacity of six people.
The kitchen is fully equipped and the villa has all the necessary amenities. It also has a parking place in front of the property.
The owners live in the house next to the Southern Sunny House.

THE NEIGHBORHOOD OVERVIEW
Situated in the west, this house is in the most sun-exposed area of the Island of Madeira.
About 5 minutes drive away is the centre of Calheta where you will find the yellow sand beach, several restaurants and a supermarket.
Calheta has the Museum of Contemporary Art, a fantastic architectural masterpiece.
Jardim do Mar and Paúl do Mar are a 10-minute drive away. These two small villages offer beach, animation and very own beauty.
Closer, in the vicinity, you will find small bars/restaurants and grocery stores.

GETTING AROUND
We recommend the private transfer service as the best option to get to the house. Contact us in advance to schedule a private transfer car with our local partners. It is cheaper than taking a taxi by your own in the airport!

Guests have access to all areas of the house.

INTERACTION WITH GUESTS
We are always at your disposal to help or answer your questions. You can contact us via our mobile numbers or by email. We will do our best to meet your requests.

OTHER OBSERVATIONS
-Please be advised that a Tourist Fee will be charged to all persons staying overnight in the municipality of Calheta. Thus, all customers staying in tourist resorts and/or accommodation establishments, aged 13 or over, will be charged €2.00 per person/night, up to a maximum of 7 nights and a maximum of €14.00 per person/stay. When you arrive, you will receive a link to pay this municipal tax.
- According to Portuguese law, all guests are required to present a valid ID. (E.g. passport, identity card).
- Check-in must be scheduled in advance. In case the check-in is not scheduled within a maximum of 48 hours prior arrival, guests will be subject to the availability of our team
- All bed linen and towels are provided. We can also provide a crib, a baby high chair and a baby bathtub if needed. First aid kit, fire extinguisher and fire blanket are available in all properties.

Looks even better than the pictures! Jose keeps the place spotless! we had a wonderful stay. The garden is sunny the majority of the day and has a view of the sea! at night the hills are lit up with beautiful lights and it’s great to sit outside and watch the world go by! A car would be required to get around as it’s on a hill. We cannot wait to come back!

We had a great time at the house. It was very clean and more then big enough for the four of us. The kids really enjoyed the spacious garden. The view from the garden over the ocean was stunning!

Calheta is a nice little town with everything you need and lots of great hikes in the neighbourhood.

José is very friendly and made our stay very comfortable! We arrived much later then planned, flight was delayed, but it was no problem for us and he came meet us by the door when we arrived.

We would definitely book again!

Wonderful and prestigious apartment that is in a great location with shops just across the street. Excellent for a family trip as it has multiple rooms and also a private underground parking. Vooraf kregen we het nummer van José, de eigenaar. José is een zeer vriendelijke en nette man.

Vooraf had ik geïnformeerd naar de mogelijkheden van eerder aankomen en afgesproken dit bij aankomst die ochtend nog even te overleggen. José nam zelf het initiatief en stond ons op de afgesproken tijd al op te wachten.

Het huis ligt super, mooi uitzicht, privé en groot. Wij waren met zn 2en waardoor de 2e badkamer en andere 2 kamers afgesloten waren.

We hebben dus niet gezien hoe deze eruit zien, maar waar we wel toegang toe hadden was geweldig, goed en schoon.

Heerlijke bank, ligbedden en loungeset :)

Het bed is zoals we dat inmiddels gewend zijn op Madeira (5e keer was dit), groot matras waarbij je de bewegingen van de ander voelt bij omdraaien. Kwestie van wennen, thuis hebben we 2 aparte matrassen en een grote topper over beide boxsprings, dus misschien zijn we gewoon verwend ;)

Het huis is absoluut een aanrader, met goede een uitgebreide keuken(toebehoren).

Ein toller Aufenthalt in diesem wunderschönen Haus. José war ein ausgesprochen hilfsbereiter und zuvorkommender Gastgeber.
Das Haus verfügt über alle Annehmlichkeiten und von der Terasse aus hat man einen unglaublich schönen Ausblick auf das Meer.
Die Küche war top ausgestattet und José hat uns sehr spontan noch ein Wallholz ausgeliehen. Auch der Aussenbereich ist in einem tadellosen Zustand. Jederzeit gerne wieder!!

Wir haben uns sehr wohlgefühlt in dem großzügigen Haus von José. Das ganze Anwesen war tip-top sauber. An Einrichtung und Ausstattung fehlt es an nichts. Die Terrasse mit gepflegtem Garten hat uns besonders gut gefallen! Der Blick auf den Sonnenuntergang ist traumhaft.
Wir empfehlen das Haus auf jeden Fall weiter und würden auch jederzeit wiederkommen! Von uns gibt es volle 5 Sterne.

He was a very nice host which allowed us a pretty late check-in without any problems.
Everything was very clean and super well equipped.
Very constable interior and modern look.

Wir haben 5 Nächte in diesem wunderschönem Haus mit toller Terrasse und Garten verbringen dürfen. Es hat uns an nichts gefehlt. Es war alles vorhanden, um einen unbeschwerten Urlaub genießen zu können. Wir haben es sehr genossen, draussen auf der Terrasse zu frühstücken und abends uns das Grillgut schmecken zu lassen und die Sonnenuntergänge zu beobachten.

Uns hat besonders die Aussicht sowie die persönliche Betreuung durch den Vermieter gefallen. Unser Flug hatte Verspätung und damit konnten wir natürlich auch unsere geplante Ankunftszeit nicht halten. Ankunft nach 20:00 Uhr? Alles kein Problem. So kommt man gut im Urlaub an! Auch Tipps zu Ausflügen und alternative Anfahrtswege (Google Maps berücksichtigt nicht Steigung und Enge der Straße....) gab es inklusive. Der Parkplatz war direkt vor der Haustür. Großes Haus mit voll ausgestatteter Küche und schönem Garten. Die Aussicht auf den Sonnenuntergang im Meer ist besonders zu erwähnen. Niemand braucht hier einen Pool - ein Sandstrand am warmen Atlantik ist nicht weit entfernt und auch schöne Naturstrände bietet die Insel.

We had an amazing stay at this spacious and very clean house. It had everything we needed for a comfortable stay, and the views and peaceful surroundings were truly stunning. The property is located at the top of a hill, so the views are unreal. There is room outside the front door on the road to safely park our rental car.

There is a small supermarket close by and a pizza pasta restaurant within walking distance which we can recommend.
José the owner, was incredibly friendly and accommodating, and we enjoyed meeting him. The highlight of our stay was spending time in the beautiful garden having breakfast and watching the sunset in the evenings after days out driving and exploring the island.

Overall, we highly recommend this property for a peaceful and relaxing getaway. Thank you, José for a wonderful stay

Das Haus ist sehr gepflegt und war tip top sauber. Es hat uns sehr gut gefallen. Der Vermieter Jose war sehr hilfsbereit und offen für alle Fragen und Anliegen. Ein ganz besonderer Dank für die Hilfe. Unsere Freundin ist bei einer unserer Wanderung eine Sturz. Dank Jose wurde die Rettungskette eingeleitet und sie konnte schnell ins KH verbracht werden. Es ist alles gut gelaufen. 👍 Auf jeden Fall empfehlen wir den Aufenthalt in diesem tollen Haus weiter. Ganz herzlichen Dank an dieser Stelle

For 2 couples, this home was perfectly suited to our needs. It was super clean with large open spaces and beautiful decor. The beds were very comfortable. Good size bathrooms with large showers. The large yard was a perfect spot for admiring the beautiful vistas & sunsets and setup comfortably for relaxing. We were able to walk up easily to the little town above us for coffee. Groceries, cafeteria & restaurants were nearby with the car. Our host was most pleasant and attentive to any of our needs. We would highly recommend this lovely home!

This home suited our needs perfectly! It was super clean with large open rooms and beautiful decor. The large backyard was a perfect spot for admiring the magnificent vistas and sunsets. It was setup most comfortably for relaxing. We were grateful for the quiet neighborhood. It was an easy walk up ( about 6 mins.) to the town square for a coffee. Groceries, cafeteria and restaurants were nearby. Our host was most pleasant and attentive to our needs. We loved it.

Wir hatten das Haus eigentlich angemietet, weil das Risiko schlechten Wetters bestand und wir uns trotzdem wohlfühlen wollten. Wäre perfekt möglich gewesen. Super schöne Villa mit großem Garten und Grill. Wir waren fünf Personen und hatten mehr als genug Platz, der Ausblick aufs Meer ist super schön und abends konnten wir den Sonnenuntergang beobachten. Unser Vermieter war immer für uns erreichbar und hat uns mit vielen Tipps versorgt.
Die Matratzen waren leider sehr hart. Wir haben sie uns mit zusätzlichen Decken ausgepolstert. In der Küche haben uns eine Knoblauchpresse und ein paar mehr Schneidebretter gefehlt, war aber alles kein Problem.

Wir hatten eine ganz wunderbare Zeit in der Unterkunft. Wir waren 5 Personen und hatten mehr als genug Platz. Das Wohnzimmer ist riesig, der Garten mit Sonnenliegen, Lounge-Area und Außenküche mit Grill ist super, um abends gemeinsam Zeit zu verbringen. Unser host José war immer für uns erreichbar und hat uns viele Insidertipps gegeben.

Ganz kleines Manko: Die Matratzen waren sehr hart, was normal ist für Portugal. Wir haben sie uns mit zusätzlichen Decken ausgepolstert.

Ansonsten war das Haus ein Traum!

We cannot say enough wonderful things about our stay. The pictures really don’t do this place justice. A beautiful view of the oceans and mountains. A huge private patio and porch, plus a lovely backyard for grilling and outdoor dinners. There is plenty of space and light inside, and with all the windows open a perfect island breeze. We really couldn’t have asked for anything better. Thank you!!

Amazing place to enjoy Madeira and beautiful sunset from the garden. Very close to Calheta sandy beach, to trips to Calheta waterfalls. Very clean, huge. Perfect for 6 people thanks to 3 bathrooms.

All the positive reviews of this property are fully justified! Really beautiful property, tastefully furnished and squeaky clean. We enjoyed all the outdoor spaces and the fabulous brick BBQ. It was a treat to eat outside on May evenings and easier than organising transport to restaurants. Recommend the fresh fish counter at Pingo Doce in Calheta for fresh prawns! … and Jose has installed a wifi extender, so problem in earlier review now fully resolved. Thanks for a truly memorable holiday!

Das Haus liegt sehr schön am Hang mit Meerblick. Es ist sehr groß mit tollem Garten, diversen Sitzmöglichkeiten und Grillplatz ausgestattet. Supersauber und wir haben alles vorgefunden, was man zum Kochen braucht. Parkplatz vor der Türe am Haus. Wifi kostenlos, könnte besser sein, geht aber. Wir waren begeistert, suchten aber auch Ruhe, Natur und wollten Wandern. Ohne Auto nicht zu empfehlen, mit Auto absolut Top🔝. Funchal 30 Minuten Fahrt. Günstig Parken kein Problem. Wie überall auf Madeira sollte das Autofahren allerdings beherrscht werden 😉 Besonders möchte ich Jose erwähnen. Er hat uns vor Ort bestens betreut, war immer zur Hilfe und antwortete prompt. Ein Koffer blieb beim Umsteigen in Lissabon zurück 😩 Er kümmerte sich erfolgreich 😀

Jose’s home was absolutely perfect for our 10 day stay in April. The space is very private and has multiple places to sit and relax enjoying the sunsets each evening. We were surrounded by beautiful blooming flowers and fruit trees that Jose shared with us along with Madeira wine.
It’s rare in Madeira to have a large yard with grass as he does so that is an additional amenity that few other homes offer.
The view at night of Calheta is breathtaking, it will make you cry as will the view of the sea during the day.
There are no obstructed views of either.
The neighborhood has some beautiful homes,local restaurants, a church and a fabulous grocery store you can walk to.
There are two beaches with lounge chair rentals at the bottom of the hill.

You absolutely need a car, most roads are easy to navigate. Book soon as he has a busy rental and enjoy the 70 degree temps of winter months with sunshine daily and little wind.

We had a very pleasant stay in this nice and spacious villa with a private garden with an excellent view to the sea and the surrounding landscape (situated 300 m above sea level).
Very nice host who always responded quickly to our enquiries.
Small issues: frying pans in the kitchen need to be replaced and it would be nice to have more plates, glasses and cutlery so that dishwashing did not have to be done so frequently.

Dom bardzo duży, fajnie oddzielona część sypialna od salonu i kuchni. Bardzo przyjemny teren wokół domu, miejsce do siedzenia na zewnątrz z pięknym widokiem na ocean, a wieczorem na oświetloną Calhetę.
Przy 5 osobach super, że były dwie łazienki, oraz dodatkowa toaleta.
Kontakt z gospodarzem dobry, udzielał pomocnych informacji.
Przed domem miejsce do parkowania.
Dom położony dosyć wysoko, więc spacer nad ocean odpada, pozostaje samochód.
W pieszej odległości pizzeria Naye z miłą obsługą i dobrą pizzą. Oraz kawiarnia Cafe Jardim z cudowną Ritą, która częstowała nas nie tylko kawą, ale także cudownymi zdrowotnymi trunkami.
Lokalny sklep spożywczy jest w zasięgu pieszym, a Pingo Doce - niedrogi supermarket kilka minut drogi samochodem, nad samym oceanem, gdzie są też restauracje. W samej Calhecie polecamy destylarnie (Sociedade dos Engenthos): nie tylko zwiedzanie ale obowiązkowa degustacja. I bardzo polecamy Rum Bar - pyszna poncha i najlepsza obsługa na całej Maderze!!!

Dziękujemy za szczegółową i pozytywną recenzję! Cieszymy się, że dom spełnił oczekiwania, a jego przestronność i oddzielenie części sypialnej od salonu i kuchni były dla Was wygodne. Miło nam, że doceniliście teren wokół domu i widok na ocean oraz Calhetę nocą. Dwie łazienki i dodatkowa toaleta to na pewno duże udogodnienie dla większej grupy.

Cieszymy się również, że kontakt z gospodarzem był pomocny oraz że odkryliście lokalne miejsca, takie jak pizzeria Naye i Cafe Jardim. Dziękujemy za polecenia dotyczące lokalnych atrakcji, takich jak destylarnia i Rum Bar.

Mamy nadzieję, że ponownie Was ugościmy podczas przyszłych pobytów na Maderze. Polecamy się na przyszłość!

Wir haben im November 2022 insg. 14 Tage in diesem Anwesen verbracht. Die Lage ist perfekt - ein paar hundert Meter über dem Meer mit sehr schönem Blick auf selbiges und die umliegenden Hänge. Das Haus selbst ist in einem ausgezeichneten Zustand, geschmackvoll ausgestattet und absolut sauber (einmal wöchentlich wird geputzt und die Handtücher / Bettwäsche gewechselt)! Die Küche ist sehr gut eingerichtet und bietet alles was zum Kochen notwendig ist. Auch das Schlafzimmer (sehr gute Betten und mehr als ausreichend vorhandene Schränke inkl. vieler Kleiderbügel), das Wohnzimmer und das Bad sind sehr schön und lassen keine Wünsche offen. Vom Garten und der möblierten Terrasse aus blickt man über das Meer und die Berge - was will man mehr? Der Vermieter (wohnt im gleichen Haus - getrennte Eingänge) ist sehr sympathisch, mehr als hilfsbereit und stand bei Fragen immer sofort zur Verfügung. Wir werden auf jeden Fall wieder kommen!

Die Unterkunft war mit Abstand die beste Unterkunft, die wir bislang über AirBnB gebucht hatten. Die Lage ist perfekt um Madeira zu erkunden, die Ausstand und die Sauberkeit des Hauses sind besser als 5 Sterne und José als Gastgeber ist enorm aufmerksam und hat uns wertvolle Tips (etwa für den besten Ort, um einen Sonnenaufgang zu sehen) gegeben. Es waren zwei wunderschöne Wochen auf Madeira und nur schweren Herzens sind wir wieder gefahren. Wir würden jederzeit wieder kommen!

A really beautiful house in the idyllic setting of Loreto in Arco da Calheta. The house itself is spacious with excellent modern facilities (bedroom, bathroom and kitchen) and plenty of outdoor space to peacefully enjoy the stunning views down towards the coast, in the Madeiran sunshine. Jose himself is an excellent and friendly host - cannot recommend this experience enough.

Het huis is net zo mooi als op de foto's. Jose stond ons al op te wachten bij aankomst later op de avond, er stond als welkomscadeau een fles wijn klaar. Het huis was erg schoon en netjes bij aankomst. De tuin is super ruim voor kinderen om in te spelen. De slaapkamers heel groot en luxe douches. Jose was gemakkelijk bereikbaar voor allerlei vragen en antwoordde snel. De locatie is goed om alle kanten van het eiland te verkennen en erna nog te genieten van de tuin. Vlakbij het strand en supermarkten. We raden het huis zeker aan en komen graag nog eens terug.

We loved our stay at Jose's villa. The house was sparkling clean, the garden is gorgeous and maintained beautifully- views to the oceans and the mountains. The villa is located at the top of one of the mountain so while our friends down by the beach had foggy and gloomy weather all week- we had sun all week. The villa is very big, nicely furniture, yet cozy, we were family of two adults and two kids and we each had plenty of sitting areas to chill. Jose the owner is a very generous guy and responded with minutes to any question or need we had. I was sick the last couple of days and ended up the hospital and Jose kept checking on us making sure we know how to find the hospital and recovering well. We are already planning to come back in the spring.

Sehr saubere und gepflegte Wohnung mit hohem Ausbaustandard und tollem Ausblick auf das Meer. Freundlicher und hilfsbereiter Vermieter (wohnt direkt neben an). Die Wohnung ist ca. 40 min. mit dem Auto vom Flughafen Funchal entfernt. Wir würden auf jeden Fall wieder kommen.

We absolutely loved our stay at the house. We were a couple with a young child and a baby and a friend with her young child. The house was spotless when we got there. There were little presents for us on arrival which we enjoyed, s bottle of wine and some local bread.
The house itself is well furnished and anything else we needed, José provided within hours. The garden and sunchairs are very nice to relax after a busy day hiking or at the beach. The house is very close to Calheta beach, to the hikes starting at Rabaçal and even to Funchal.
You can enjoy the sunset every evening from the garden.
Everything works fine in the house, the shower are great and the rooms are very large. The living room and dining room area are very large and children friendly. But we mainly ate outside anyway.
The only downside is that if you need the WiFi it is better in the living room since all walls are concrete, the signal is not great in the room. We didn't care at all.
Thank you for our stay, we will 100% recommend your place.

We can highly recomend this place for amazing stay in Madeira. José is very attentative host - he is very responsive. The place compraises of really very beautiful house and good sized nice garden (larger part of garden is flat). The house is spacious, nicely decorated and very practical. It is worth money spend on staying there. The garden has amazing view on sea on the one side and on mountains and valley on the other side. There is large barbecue area with seating. The location is perfect - 6 min to the beach, 6 min to supermarket Pingo Doce and well located for exploration of east part, central part and western part of Madeira. Finally it is calm place - road is not busy at all. It is for sure 5 star place

Nous étions un couple avec une petite fille de 19 mois et nous sommes restés une semaine dans cette très belle maison, très bien décorée et très bien équipée, avec un jardin paisible et fleuri. avec vue sur la mer. Nous nous sommes sentis comme à la maison. Jose et son épouse nous ont accueillis avec une petite attention. Ils étaient de bon conseils. Wir können diese Unterkunft definitiv weiterempfehlen! Es ist alles so wie beschrieben und wie auf den Bildern zu sehen. Der Aufenthaltsbereich ist sehr großzügig und das ganze Haus ist sehr sauber und modern eingerichtet. Die Küche ist gut ausgestattet und es gibt einen schönen, gepflegten Außenbereich mit Essplatz, Terrasse, Grill und einer tollen Aussicht. Die beiden Bäder haben geräumige Duschen und die Betten sind bequem. Direkt vor dem Haus gibt es eine Parkmöglichkeit. Auch die Betreuung durch José war vorbildlich. Er ist sehr hilfsbereit und kümmert sich super!
Der einzige Minuspunkt ist die Hellhörigkeit in dem Haus. Nachts hört man jeden Schritt oder etwa die Toilettenspülung, wenn jemand mal muss, da die Schlafzimmer direkt beieinander sind. Und morgens hört man ein paar Autos von der Straße vor dem Haus. Wen das aber nicht stört, dem steht einem entspannten Aufenthalt nichts im Wege.

We’ve stayed around Calheta twice now and love the area. This house is massive - the living room, dining area, kitchen etc are all easily large enough for 4-6 people. We stayed in December and loved the big comfy sofa in the evenings once the sun went down. It has everything you could want and José is very helpful if you need anything. Great little bar just down the road which does great dinner on a Friday. Would definitely stay here again.

José's place is very impressive. Lovely large rooms, high ceilings, loads of space (great storage) and very luxurious. Everything was sparkling clean and very nicely finished. Great amenities, a well stocked up kitchen and lovely bbq area. The garden is very nicely done - lots of little touches that really add character and our 3 year old loved the space to run and plan. The location is great. The view over the sea is of course lovely, and it is a real pleasure to wake with the sun and sea to refresh in the mornings. It is a short drive to Calheta, the beach and amenities there, and the local village centre has a very nice little supermarket, restaurants etc. his are minutes away by car. Very easy access up onto the mountain for some superb hikes, and wonderful views practically on the doorstep - the 25 fountains, views from Pico Ruivo do Paul, and ancient laurel forests at Fanal are extraordinary and that doesn't even scratch the surface. José was extremely welcoming and gave us some excellent tips for places to eat, hike and visit. A wonderful place, obrigado José!

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our first trip to Madeira and we were so pleased with our choice of accommodation in Arco da Calheta. The owner, Jose, was there to greet us and to show us around the house. He lives next door but was not at all intrusive during our stay.
The house was spotlessly clean and was very stylishly furnished. The two bathrooms were amazing and both had huge showers. There was also plenty of wardrobe space in the master bedroom. The kitchen was very well equipped and the lounge was very comfortable. The bedrooms and bathrooms were through a separate door and down a corridor.

The outside of the house is immaculately kept with a huge balcony at the front of the house where you can enjoy the morning sun and a sea view and also a very private back garden where we watched the sunsets over the sea.
The house is a very good base to see the island. There is so much to see so we will definitely be planning another trip in the future.
We heard quite a few dogs barking but they seemed to be quiet during the night so our sleep was never disturbed.
We would thoroughly recommend this house both as a very comfortable place to stay and as an excellent location. The journey from Funchal Airport was about 50 minutes although I suspect the locals would complete the journey in a much shorter time!

More than decent wifi connection (25 Mbit DL / 20 Mbit UP) which was quite important for me since I was working remotely our whole stay there. Large and garden which kept our kids busy all the time.

What a gorgeous villa! Elegant furniture, beautiful garden, fully equipped kitchen.

The host José is really nice and helpful, he shared a few great trail recommendations and island tips.

The location is perfect to explore most of the island, with a beach and big supermarket within 7 minute drive.

PS: be aware of the stray cats! We petted one and then it spent all night screaming under our bedroom windows. Don’t make the same mistake :)

We planned a small family trip to Madeira and had found the place to stay and booked it for nine nights. The house is very nice and we all enjoyed it very much. In reality the big rooms and the view are even more beautiful than on the pictures. It takes about 10 minutes by car to the beautiful harbour town Calheta with many restaurants and shops. We would highly recommend staying in this stunning house.

Wir wurden freundlich von Jose empfangen, der uns das Haus zeigte und während der Woche für Ratschläge und Hilfe zur Verfügung stand. Im Untergeschoß befindet sich ein kleiner Friseur und im Anbau wohnt Jose. Im Haus war alles Wesentliche für einen Aufenthalt vorhanden, es war mit drei Schlafzimmern, zwei Duschbädern und einer zusätzlichen Toilette ausgestattet. Von der Terasse und aus zwei der drei Schlafzimmer gab es einen wunderbaren Blick auf den Atlantik.
Über den Link des Reisevermittlers Travel to Madeira waren z.B. alle Infos zu den Hausgeräten abrufbar und ggf. Ausflüge buchbar.

The property is just like on the pictures. The area is beautiful and it was amazing to smell the ocean every morning when opening the window. We had a rented car during our stay and Calheta was a good base to discover the whole island.
We arrived after midnight since we had a late flight from Lisbon but Josè was there to greet us and during our stay he gave us some nice hints about what to explore.
Our all in all experience is wonderful, we recommend to book this accomodation for sure.

Jorge a été un hôte exceptionnel !! Très attentionné, attentif et arrangeant, il a été de bons conseils.
Concernant la maison, elle est juste WAHOU ! On étaient 6 dont un bébé, et on s’est pas senti à l étroit.
Décoré avec goûts, dans quartier calme (on entends pas tout le temps les chiens, réponse au commentaire laissé), et très propre
Magnifique coucher de soleil et vue splendide sur mer et montagne.

We are the first guests this place has seen and usually these five stars are fake. But I guarantee you it is not. So here is what our family experienced:
First of all we got a warm welcome from the owner and his niece in english. They give appologies for the language, but that was out of place. We got infos for restaurants, nice places to visit and even the offer to guide us if we want.
The house is in fact bigger than the pictures suggest, esp. the living room has an extraordinary high ceiling, more like a temple :) All the furniture and equipement is new. Stuff we missed was provided next day. If somebody is sensible about the view then this might be the only reason to reduce one star, as it is blocked a little bit by plants and a building. But still you can see the beautiful sea. For us was fine.
We rented a car and parked it at the street in front of the house.
If you are in climbing then it is possible to buy food and drinks in a small shop ca. 10 "walk". Well, Madeira has only steets going up or down. If your legs are weak, take the car.
Finally there is one point which is annoying but as it is not the owners fault and common in the rural areas I did not want to reduce a star: dogs! There are a lot and the owners of the dogs do not care about the barking. There is a kind of concert in the evening, one starts and every dog takes his turn until they got tired and go inside. Nobody cares. They are alarm bells and it is their job. After 17days we got some kind used to it but hell do I love cats.
The location itself is good because you can reach the beach quite fast and also 25 fountains levada is just some kilometer.
