1. PREVENTION PROCEDURES

1.1 ON THE PREMISES

a) Signage and Information

  • Customers are aware of and have access to this Internal Protocol concerning the outbreak of COVID-19 coronavirus, which will be sent by email when the reservation is confirmed.
  • Information on how to comply with basic infection prevention and control precautions regarding the outbreak of COVID-19 coronavirus will be made available.

b) Hygiene plan

  • Wash and disinfect, in accordance with this internal protocol, surfaces where employees and customers circulate, ensuring the control and prevention of infections and resistance to antimicrobials.
  • Performing wet cleaning instead of dry cleaning.
  • Air renewal of the properties before, during and after their cleaning.
  • Disinfection of the swimming pool or other existing equipment (where available).
  • Reinforcement of sanitization of utensils, equipment and surfaces of kitchens and barbecues - use of antimicrobials.
  • Cleaning and disinfecting the cleaning equipment at the end of each use, Example: bucket and mop to the floor. The bucket and mop are distinguished by areas, and the bucket, mop and cloths used in the bathrooms are not used in the other areas of the property.
  • For the floor, the washing is done with hot water and common detergent, followed by disinfection with bleach solution diluted in water.
  • In sanitary facilities, washing is carried out with a product that contains detergent and disinfectant in its composition because it is easier to apply and disinfect.
  • Please be advised that for stays longer than 8 nights an intermediate cleaning is included. Due to Covid-19 safety regulations, we cannot enter the property, we will only provide fresh linen and collect the dirty ones.
  • Any maintenance, urgent (that implies the comfort and well being of the client and that consequently cannot be done after the end of the stay), the client will have to leave the property momentarily so that the maintenance team does the necessary work with the minimum contact.

c) Adequacy of the selected space for isolation

  • In each property will be indicated the master bedroom to isolate the client that can be detected as a suspect case. If it is a confirmed case of COVID-19 the host will only be able to remain in the property he is in if it gathers the conditions for a prolonged isolation - more than 24h. The room for isolation should have natural ventilation or mechanical ventilation system and have smooth and washable coverings, and should have private bathroom (to be used by himself without sharing with the rest of the family). After indication will be provided stock of cleaning materials, surgical masks and disposable gloves, thermometer, self-contained waste container, waste bags, used laundry bags, kit with water and some non-perishable food.

d) Suitability of accommodation units

  • Specific care was defined for changing the bedding and cleaning in the rooms, privileging two spaced intervention times with adequate protection.
  • The removal of bedding and towels is done without shaking it or shaking it, curling it from outside to inside, without touching the body. It is placed in two sealed plastic bags and sent to the laundry room.
  • The washing is done separately, by machine and at high temperatures of bed linen / towels (about 60ºC).
  • The washing and disinfection of cushion covers, pillow covers and bed covers is performed whenever the client changes.

e) Hygiene equipment

  • Dispensers of alcohol-based antiseptic solution or alcohol-based solution near the entry/exit points of each property
  • Liquid soap for hand washing available in bathrooms.

1.2 FOR EMPLOYEES

a) Training

  • All employees have received information and/or specific training about:
    • Internal protocol on the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak.
    • How to comply with basic infection prevention and control precautions related to the outbreak of OVID-19 coronavirus, including procedures:
      • hand hygiene: wash hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use hand disinfectant that has at least 70º of alcohol, covering all surfaces of the hands and rubbing them until ficarem dry.
      • respiratory label: cough or sneeze into your forearm fletido or use a tissue, which should then be immediately disposed of; always clean your hands after coughing or sneezing and after blowing; avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with your hands.
      • social behaviour: change the frequency and form of contact between workers and between workers and clients, avoiding (when possible) close contact, handshaking, kissing, shared workplaces, face-to-face meetings and sharing food, utensils, cups and towels.
      • How to comply with daily self-monitoring for fever assessment, verificação coughing or dificuldade breathing

b) Equipment - Personal protection

  • In sufficient number for all employees depending on their function: mask, visor, gloves, shoe covers or the use of a pair of shoes only on the property, and they are disinfected after each use. Gown or apron and cap in case of infection and client.

c) Designation of those responsible

  • Employee responsible for triggering the procedures in case of suspected infection:

    • The employee should indicate the person with symptoms to go to the isolation room, make the delivery to the property of the isolation kit as soon as possible, provide the necessary assistance and contact the national health service.

d) Conduct

  • Daily self monitoring for fever, cough or dificuldade breathing.
  • Behaviors to adopt by staff:
  • keeping distance between employees and clients and avoiding physical contact, including handshakes
  • keep my hair caught
  • excessive use of personal adornment (bracelets, wires, rings, etc.) is not recommended
  • at the entrance of new guests, check-in will take place outside the property
  • Cleaning professionals are familiar with the products to be used (detergents and disinfectants), the precautions to be taken when handling, diluting and applying them safely, how to protect themselves during space cleaning procedures and how to ensure good ventilation during cleaning and disinfection.

e) Stock of cleaning and sanitizing materials

  • Stock of single-use cleaning materials, including bleach and alcohol at 70º.
  • Dispensers or refills of alcohol-based antiseptic solution or alcohol-based solution.
  • Non-hand opening waste container and plastic bag.
  • Equipment with liquid soap for hand washing.

1.3 FOR CUSTOMERS

a) Equipment - Personal protection

b) Personal protective equipment is mandatory for use by the customer. It is provided by An Island Apart gel disinfectant at the entrance of each property.

c) In case of suspicion of infection the customer must contact the employee responsible for triggering the procedures.

d) An Island Apart will deliver the isolation kit as soon as possible and at the entrance of the property.

e) The client must remain in the isolation area, with surgical mask until the arrival of the team from the National Institute of Medical Emergency, which ensures transportation to the reference hospital, where biological samples will be collected for laboratory tests.

f) Any cost associated with the process of suspicion or confirmation of infection will be the responsibility of the client.

2. PROCEDURES IN CASE OF SUSPECTED INFECTION

2.1 PLAN OF ACTION

  • The employee responsible must indicate to the suspect of infection that he should go to the isolation space, provide the necessary assistance and contact the National Health Service.

2.2 DECONTAMINATION OF THE ISOLATION SITE

  • Decontamination of the isolation area whenever there are positive cases of infection and reinforcement of cleaning and disinfection whenever there are patients suspected of infection, as indicated by the Directorate General of Health.
  • The storage of the waste produced by patients suspected of infection in a plastic bag which, after being closed (e.g. with a clamp), will be segregated and sent to a licensed operator for the management of hospital waste with biological risk.
  • The isolation area will be closed until decontamination (cleaning and disinfection) is validated by the Health Authority. This ban will only be lifted by the Health Authority.
